Yesterday morning I was upstairs working in the kitchen and while bread dough was rising, I sat down to read email. There was one from Denise about a chart she was thinking about ordering. She would almost get it, then talk herself out of it. She was clearly asking for my help because she knows what a great job I can do in talking her out of ordering something . . NOT! :) I was laughing ...
Finish #4 for 2024
This was my Winter Stitching Camp project. This "camp" is an annual challenge by Colorado Cross Stitcher. This is Kindness Matters by Teresa Miller of Teresa's Primitive Treasures. This chart was in the Summer, 2020 issue of Punch Needle & Primitive Stitcher magazine. I stitched it on the side of another project and I'm not sure which linen I'm using. I used Victoria Clayton's silks ...
Bread Making Today
After making the Ezekiel bread the other day, I wanted to try it again using two of the longer Pullman pans instead of three cast iron shorter loaf pans. We've been cutting on the back loaf. Chad, Nicole and Addie were coming by today so I gave them one loaf. This bread is not sandwich bread but I added lecithin and that seemed to make it a bit stronger and a bit less dense. We cut the ...
Garbanzo Bean Flour Pancakes

At first, I thought I would keep it for dusting my hands when kneading dough or rolling pie crusts but it's worked out fine with milling the grains as needed. We're still experimenting with the flour for biscuits. I haven't tried ...
Black Pepper
I never seem to get enough black pepper. Before writing this post, I googled "Can you be addicted to black pepper"? A couple of mornings ago, we had oatmeal for breakfast and, except that Vince would have thought I was crazy, I wanted to put black pepper in my oatmeal. I didn't do it. I've mentioned that there's a co-op (of sorts) for buying vanilla beans - Indri's Vanilla Bean Group. I don't ...
Dill Pickle Soup
You know I'm a big fan of Louise at The Salted Pepper. She has a website with printable recipes but I do love her videos at youtube. When I saw her making Dill Pickle Soup, I could not stop thinking about it. Most of the time, I can look at a recipe and have a good feel if it's going to be amazing, good or not so great. Sometimes I will think . . if I change "this" to "that", we would like it ...
