We had Speck when Rita came to live with us but Speck was old and he didn’t want to play. He was nice to Rita, which surprised me, but he had health issues and about the only thing he would do with her was let her sleep next to him on his little bed in the family room. Rita would try to get him to play with her but he had no interest at all So, really, this is the first time I’ve had two dogs that really interacted and these two interact all day long. They will be “fighting” and every now and then I think . . I hope I know where my purse is because I’m sure we’re going to have to go to the vet before this day is over. Then they’re playing chase through the downstairs and the best thing for me to do is stay out of the way so I don’t trip over them. It’s rare that they aren’t doing something together – good or bad! I think Oscar is more attached to Cooper than Cooper is to Oscar. If Oscar loses sight of Cooper, it’s obvious that he’s worried. Maybe that’s just the big brother instinct. I don’t know that Cooper ever notices when Oscar is out of sight.
I used to try to stop the fighting or try to stop them from playing so hard but now I know that they’re going to go full steam ahead until they cannot go any longer and then they’ll crash on my lap and that’s when I can stitch!
This was yesterday afternoon. Oscar looks like he’s sleeping with his head in the air but his head is on Cooper’s back. That does not look comfortable . . for either one of them but they’ve crashed and will usually sleep for a couple of hours and then it all begins anew.
I love these two dogs and they surely brighten my days.
