I think I got my first grain mill in either 2007 or 2009. I cannot remember . . ok. I was wrong. I found this blog post. I got it in 2008. We've had mostly homemade bread since 2008 so for almost 16 years, we've had bread made from truly whole grains. When anyone has asked me . . "why do you do it?", I would simply say "It's much more healthy" but I had no idea how much healthier til I watched ...
Progress on This I Know
I'll finish out the month working on This I Know. My plan for yesterday was to work all the way up to the top so I could measure and see if there is enough fabric left to stitch the Winter Camp Project which is sponsored by Colorado Cross Stitcher. I stitched the bird in the basket, the top leaf, the first ring of the sun, "Jesus loves me" and a couple of the little doo-dads. I had a strand ...
A Spoiled Dog
How did we get to this point? Oscar will only eat if his bowl is on the sofa and he's sitting on my lap. I've always said they (kids or dogs) would eat when they get hungry and that's true but Oscar will whine and cry and run in and bump me with his nose, run back to his food bowl, back to bump my leg, bark, drive us crazy so, being the ineffective dog mom I am, I just bring his bowl to the ...
End of January Stitching Plans
I know January isn't quite over yet and I'm not trying to rush it. I will do a January Stitching Report on the 31st. What I'm going to do between now and February 1 is work on This I Know. The photo was taken before it was good daylight and the basement lighting -- you know . . I complain about it all the time . . it isn't good! The house is a pretty shade of peach, not as orange as it ...
Finish #3 for 2024
Some of these are small but a finish is a finish and I'll proudly share it here. It's from the Prairie Christmas booklet. I think there are 12 (maybe more) little ornaments. Most (maybe all - obviously I didn't pay very close attention) are about 45 x 45 stitches. I am not a very good judge of how long things take to stitch. When I first started this, I thought I would have it stitched in a ...
My Uncle’s Dog
My uncle's chihuahua, Bandit, passed away this week but the whole story about the last half (or more) of Bandit's life is pretty interesting. Both my aunt and uncle were/are dog lovers. My aunt, Dorothy, passed away six years ago. Bandit was a rescue dog and I think they had him five years before we spent Christmas with my uncle after Dorothy had passed away. When they got Bandit, he wasn't ...
