This morning I had to do a double take when I walked by the wall oven. Bunnies running across the screen and it says "Leap Day". Thanks, oven! Last night at midnight, I put the Prairie Life Sampler away and got ready to start stitching on the Leap Year Project that I'm stitching with Denise and a couple of other friends. I had already removed a big piece from a big frame but the biggest ...
These Two Buddies
I've shared this before but just because these pictures crack me up, I'll share it again. When we got Cooper, Vince was concerned that Oscar wouldn't like him. Oscar can be a bit difficult. Cooper is energetic and can be aggravating and Oscar isn't very patient but I felt like IF Oscar was a problem, we could work with him and they would become friends. One of the problems that took a bit ...
Sourdough Pancakes and Apple Bread
This morning, since we're still out of bread, I made sourdough pancakes. This recipe was a new one for me and it seemed kinda weird. There's no added flour except what's in the sourdough starter, which I guess was enough because these were the best pancakes. Sorry I didn't take a picture but they were very similar to the pictures on the linked post. They reminded me of the pancakes from my ...
The Big Garden
This morning I was looking for something on the blog and came across this picture from 2014. I do miss the big garden but it was a compromise . . I had to give up the big garden, chickens and the orchard for Vince to agree to move back to MO. We do have a very small garden here, we do have about 10 fruit trees but I'll always miss the space we had in Texas. But . . there's a time and a ...
Prairie Life Sampler Border
Last night I finished the "bones" or frame of the Prairie Life Sampler border. Almost always, I will go all the way around with the bones or frame of the border, then go back and add flowers and other motifs. Even though I count and re-count, and check everything multiple times, I'm always very happy when I put that last stitch in and everything meets up. On this one, I started near ...
Dental Schools
Those of us without dental insurance are lucky to be living here! Missouri Southern State University is probably 6 or 8 miles from us and they have a dental hygiene school. We can go there and get our teeth cleaned and full x-rays for $35. It's an all day job because it's a teaching "lab". There's an instructor for every so many hygienist students so everything they do, someone comes by and checks ...
