As I was setting two Instant Pots for our meal today, I realized I forgot to add the picture in the last post. I’ve gone back and added it but here it is:
You can see the difference in size – 6 quart on the left and 3 quart on the right. The larger one on the left has crack chicken and the smaller one has rice.
I checked today’s prices on Amazon and the 6 quart 7 in 1 (which is what I have) is currently $78.56. The 6 quart 9 in 1 is currently $99.95.
If you click those links, which are affiliate links, you will see an option on each for 3 quart, 6 quart or 8 quart. on the 7 in 1, the 6 quart is $69.99 and on the 9 in one, the 3 quart is $84.55.
I read a couple of articles online, hoping to see a reason why I should upgrade to a 9 in 1 but I didn’t see anything that convinced me. The 9 in 1 has buttons for “Egg” and “Sous Vide”. I have been cooking eggs for years – manual at 6 minutes. I have a sous vide stick and I’m happy with it so I’ll stick with I have for now and hope they last forever.

Don’t forget that during Amazon Prime Day (in July or November??) the instant pots are usually on sale. And, it’s a good time to get any extra supplies.
Someone asked about what accessories to get for their pots. I would suggest a second steel insert pot, the glass lid, and a steamer basket. There are silicone finger mitts which I’ll get someday to help with moving the hot pots. If you tend to lose small things, get an extra sealing thing. Oh, get extra seals since they could go bad and then you can’t find any.
I use the lid when I am browning something in the pot for less splatter and easier to watch the progress. When I make a big batch of chili or soup,I put the insert pot in the fridge for overnight, also using the lid. The next day, I just put the pot on slow cook option to warm up and keep warm. It’s great for a winter quilting weekend.
BTW, I am single and I have both a 6 and a 3 qt pots and use them just like Judy shows – the large one for the basic meal and the smaller one for side dishes.
