First, there’s no menu plan for today because this week is leftovers/clean out the fridge/freezer week. At least a couple of days each week, I’ve had leftovers to go into the freezer so we’ll eat those this week.
Today marks 4 weeks that we’ve been on the diet. Is that possible? Four weeks? Vince has lost 26 pounds! I have lost 14. Towards the end of last week was the first time his blood glucose levels have been consistently where he wanted them. His blood pressure is slowly going down. At first, he’d have a little down, then a little up but now it’s pretty much staying the same.
My blood glucose and blood pressure is good and was never a problem.
Unless something changes drastically, I’m going to start reporting only on the first of the month. We’re in this for the long haul so there will be lots of monthly reports. My next report will be in just a couple of weeks . . on March 1, but then monthly only.
We’re both so happy with the weight loss/new way of eating results.

I’ve been reading on Keto diet. Aren’t you concerned about yours and Vinces Cholesterol? seems like this diet has loads of fats and that effects the heart w,arteries with cholesterol . Just wondering also doesn’t the fat effect your kidneys too.
Judy Laquidara says
Not concerned. A lot depends on who’s reporting that. The majority of people on the diet, who are truly following the macros and eating only healthy fats report reductions in cholesterol. Google “Is keto diet harmful to kidneys” and the overwhelming information is that reduced protein, reduced sugar, more veggies and less harmful oils is not bad for kidneys. Some people believe bacon and eggs are all they need to eat on the keto diet but that isn’t true and eating too much of that would be bad for cholesterol. I have my annual physical in the next few months so I’ll see what my numbers are and report back.

Not concerned at all. One of the main doctor proponents is Dr. Jason Fung and he is a nephrologist who works mostly with older folks and diabetics. “Loads of fat”? If I eat 1/2 T. butter, 1 T. olive oil and one avocado, that’s all the fats I need each day. On any given day, diet or no diet, I ate more fat that than and it was the unhealthy fat – canoloa, corn or vegetable oils.

How do you figure how many grams of proteins/carbs/fats you should be eating? Does this change as your weight goes down? Do you have an informative book/site that you would recommend to get started? Thanks for the info, –Pat
