A budget is hopeless around this household. I can laugh at Vince and argue with Vince about his spending but in the end, I’m just as bad. A blog reader friend was chit chatting with me today and telling me how much she loves her 3 quart mini Instant Pot. I explained to her how that would never work for us and then I started thinking about it and decided it would be great for us!
It will be great for the amount of yogurt I make, for boiling 5 or 6 eggs at a time, making rice (says it will make up to 12 cups of cooked rice). I’m betting I use this little rascal all the time and end up needing two of them! 🙂
I had to snicker as I hit the order button . . just thinking about some day when Vince and I are gone and Chad is going through all our stuff. He’s going to be saying bad words . . a mini pressure cooker, 3 full size pressure cookers, probably 4 or 5 (or more) stove top pressure cookers.
For several years friends told me how great the electric pressure cookers were and I wasn’t having any part of it . . til I got one and now, I truly think they’re the most essential item in my kitchen. I’d give up my gas stove before I’d give up my Instant Pot and you know that is saying a whole lot.
The pot is out of stock and won’t arrive til Tuesday. Here I sit thinking I can’t possibly make it til Tuesday without it .. when just a few minutes ago, I was sure I didn’t need it.
I do sometimes feel a bit guilty about ordering yarn but I don’t feel guilty at all ordering this pot because I know it’s going to soon be the most used item in my kitchen.

Now that is tempting. While I’ve always thought the Instant Pots look interesting the price and size have prevented me from buying. The big one looked way bigger than I would need just for me. I’ll have to ponder on this a bit.

Judy, you are a bad influence! I haven’t ordered an Instant Pot because I don’t cook all the time and couldn’t justify the price. However, I’m very tempted with this one, and I have an Amazon gift card just waiting to be used!

I ordered the small one a few months ago and it is wonderful. You will enjoy for cooking smaller portions. And, since I just have one of the larger ones, I can actually cook the meat in one pot and the rice or barley in the smaller one.

Yeah I ordered one before the holidays… Amazon was OOS on the ceramic coated extra pot so I went directly to the Instant Pot Web site and ordered the ceramic coated pot and a silicone lid for the 3 qt and one for my bigger one too. I already had an extra SS pot for the big one and a glass lid… one of the lids from my Cuisinart pots fit the 3 qt so I didn’t order a glass lid.

I’m so tempted!

Hmm, thought I’d posted, but don’t see it. I got one for Christmas and it’s so cute! Used it to make the Carrot Cake Steelcut Oats recipe in Barbara’s new cookbook. Super yummy, and I’m eating it for my lunches because Dan doesn’t like cereal, so it’s out for breakfast. I know I’ll use it lots and lots, and there have been several occasions when I wished I had two InstantPots because my one was in use and I had another need, usually when it was tied up making yogurt. I know you’ll enjoy yours when it comes. (I can’t believe I have something before you talked me into it!!!! LOL!)

Haha! You bought that in the time it took me to fly from Detroit to Minneapolis, right after we emailed about it! Now I can say we are even for something or other you made me buy (cannot think of an example, but I am SURE I have bought something I didn’t know I needed until seeing it here!). You will love it. I hate things out on my counter top and I let this sit out all the time. I have my bigger one in my pantry and bring it out for meats, while the little one is cooking rice or potatoes.

I think this one is too small for us, which one of the larger size do you recommend?

Judy, you will love it. I have two 6-quart and one 3-quart. I had cooked on gas stoves all my life. Then we moved to an all-electric home a few months ago. The Instant Pots saved my sanity of trying to cook on an electric stove; especially with the stove-top pressure cooker I had loved. A day hardly goes by that I don’t use at lease one (usually two) Instant Pot. They are truly miraculous, especially with the saute feature.
