I did spend a bit of time in the garden this morning and still have to go out and bring most of my new plants back in the house. We’re going to have wind and rain and hail and hopefully nothing worse over the next couple of days but it’s also going to drop back down into the 30’s for a couple of nights.
Then I went into the kitchen and got busy. I made the Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup that I think I mentioned the other day. It was really good and Vince liked it too. This is a perfect soup for someone who isn’t feeling great but it’s good for those of us feeling fine too! One thing I changed . . I grabbed a package of orzo but had a partial package of ditalini in a ziploc bag so I used that instead of opening a fresh bag of orzo and using half of it and then having two partial bags of open pasta!
I also made cabbage and andouille. I’m working my way through the freezers. I open one, pull out something and that goes on the menu. Through the weekend, we have some kind of big pieces of lamb. I forgot what it’s called – not a roast, not chops . . not something I’ve ever cooked before but we’re going to have that probably Saturday. I’m thinking I might want to smoke it but I’m afraid we’re not going have weather for smoking on Sunday. I’ll see . . it isn’t nearly defrosted yet so it could wait til Sunday. The other thing I have out is pork chops and I can easily cook those inside. So . . I had andouille. It would have worked great for red beans and rice but I bought four heads of cabbage at Aldi to make kraut but after getting two heads sliced and massaged, I decided that was enough for today.

I got four quarts of cabbage that will be kraut in a month or so.

And, the best news . . there are leftovers. Cabbage and sausage on the left and soup on the right.
I also got two pork loins seasoned and marinating for making Canadian bacon next week.
Stitching? Not yet but there’s still time!
