One of my goals this year is to use no white, store bought flour. So far . . I know – it’s only been about 1-1/2 months . . I haven’t used anything except fresh milled flour. I don’t know if we were just ready to make the change but several times before I had tried to do it but biscuits or cookies didn’t taste “right” and I would always go back to the store bought flour but we both have been commenting on how good things are made with the whole wheat flour.
My favorite so far is the apple bran muffins. One recipe makes 30 regular muffins so I put them in bags – 6 per bag and put them in the freezer. Otherwise, I’d probably eat 30 of them in a couple of days. I’ve made them with apples and the cranberries I strained out of the juice I made. I’ve made them with crushed (drained) pineapple and coconut and I’ve made them with blueberries and cranberries. So far, apple is still my favorite.
Every time I start to bake something, I want snickerdoodles so yesterday I decided to make them.
This is the recipe I used and Vince said they were the best snickerdoodles I’ve ever made (I think he says that every time I make cookies or cakes or muffins). This lady has a gingersnap recipe I may try next.
I baked a dozen of the cookies and put 20 in the freezer.

I love Snickerdoodles. I’ll have to give this recipe a try.

Wait. You’re looking to move? How did I miss this news??

If we could find a house with a bit of land, a basement, a basement kitchen, a shop, in Chad’s town, we would do it. We’ve been looking for a while but there just aren’t many houses for sale there, and definitely not many that would work for us.

I don’t see any cinnamon sugar on the top of the snickerdoodles. Did you leave it out? Just wondered, since the cinnamon sugar is what gives the cookie its flavor. 🙂

It’s there. You probably don’t see it because the cookies are darker since they were made with whole wheat flour.

I’ve made the gingersnaps, and they are wonderful! I’ll have to make the snickerdoodles next.

I may make the gingersnaps tomorrow. Thanks for the recommendation.
