I’m still trying to figure out a plan for stitching that works for me. Maybe I need someone telling me what to do and I shouldn’t be left to make my own decisions. 🙂
In 2023, my friend, Pat, and I started a lot of projects. We had a lot of the same charts and we had a list and we started a lot! By the time 2024 started, all the WIPS were started to make me a little nervous.
So far this year, I’ve finished 12 pieces and at least 8 of those were started in 2024. That means I haven’t done a very good job of going back and finishing those older pieces. What’s left of 2024 will be spent working on finishing WIPS.
On November 30, I started back to working on Red Bird Sampler. I started this one in May, 2022 and this is what it looked like when I picked it up again a few days ago.
After just three days of working on this, look how much I have stitched!
I think I can definitely finish this one by the end of this week.
Next I’ll work on For the Love of Nature. Here’s where I left off in July, 2023.
I’m about halfway done with it. I’m pretty sure I can finish it in two weeks if I stick with it.
The last project I would love to work on, though it’s doubtful I can finish it before the end of the year, is Noel Sampler. I last worked on it in April, 2023.
What are my stitching plans for 2025? I have no idea. There are a lot of big projects that need to be finished. There are a lot of new projects I would like to start. I doubt I’ll ever be a monogamous stitcher but I am going to try harder to finish more and start fewer projects in 2025. Time will tell!

I have SO MANY WIPs… I started a lot of BIG samplers in ’24…need to get some done in ’25. I stitched that Red Bird Sampler earlier this year but haven’t got it frame yet… and I started the Noel Sampler about 2 months ago… but I think the one I’ll get back to first is WTN&T Every Opening Flower… there are so many many many beautiful samplers, aren’t there? happy stitching!!

Yes, there are so many I want to stitch but I need to focus more on finishing and not starting. Sounds like a lot of us are in that boat. Good luck getting yours finished (and framed)!

It’s so pretty. I’ve loved working on it. I was a bit surprised by the size – much smaller than I had remembered. It’s a fast stitch. I may finish it tonight but probably tomorrow so if you want a fairly fast stitch/finish, I suggest it!

On the Red Bird Sampler, the designer had a post on her facebook about missing a stitch or two on that arch. I am going to try to post it here. PLEASE NOTE – there is a charting error on the Red Bird Sampler chart. The error is at the lower center of the chart, in the floral arbor over the buildings. Where the three black X’s are placed on the below photo, those stitches should be stitched in 351 Coral rather than the charted Olive. I am very sorry about this!
I think they forgot to chart the leaf on the right side too. It is on the picture but not the chart.
I made this with Jo in a SAL and it is really pretty. I need to do something with it now.

EDIT: I found it! I’ll fix it in the morning!
Thanks for the info. I’m not seeing it but I’m looking at the chart on the Markup app and maybe the x’s were black and I read them as coral . . who knows . . but when you look at my picture, if you see a mistake, will you please let me know.
I started this one with Jo’s group and don’t know why I put it away for so long.
Thanks again for the info about the error.

Maybe for every 2 you finish, you get to start a new one. Once you get several WIP’s finished, you can start new ones to your heart’s content!

I’ve decided that 2025 is going to be the year for no rules. As long as I am happy finishing WIPS, I’ll do that but if I want to start more, I’ll do it. I’m really going to try to buy very little as far as charts and linen though.

I’m ready to bind a mystery quilt that a friend of mine designed for people going to a retreat in Shipshewana a number of years ago. I’m happy with it, happy with my fabric choices, but some things just take their own sweet time! Don’t they? I will be so happy to put it into use!!

Good for you for finishing it. Yes, I’m always surprised at things I struggle to get back to finishing and then I can’t put them down.
