Chad, Nicole and Addie are really the only folks I buy gifts for. All through the year, but especially this time of year, anything we want, the other will say “Get it . . it will be your Christmas present from me.” Not very fun on Christmas Day but that’s how it is.
I am about 99% sure Chad, Nicole and Addie would rather have cash but that just doesn’t seem right to me. Last year I did give Addie cash. I never heard what she bought . . not that she had to tell me but I’d prefer to buy gifts IF I can think of something they would really want.
When they were here for Thanksgiving, Addie said “Granny, could you learn to make body butter and teach me how!” I told her that I know how to make body butter. It’s just like following a cooking recipe and I have all the stuff here to do it! She wanted to do it right then. I told her no, while I was in the middle of finishing up Thanksgiving dinner was not the best time to start.
Today Vince and I were talking about it and he said “Why don’t you buy her the stuff to make body butter and print her a recipe for her Christmas present?” Great idea!! I called Nicole to make sure it was ok with her since it’s going to probably involve at least some amount of supervision and mess in the kitchen. She thought it was a great idea. I’m so thankful to have a daughter-in-law who is easy to get along with and always up for a challenge.
I ordered Addie a Pink Peony Body Butter Kit and this Lip Balm Kit.
While I was thinking along those lines, I remembered that I used to buy lotion bars that were little round circles in tins and they were so nice for rubbing into your hands. Nicole loved those and I would give her a few each time I ordered them but the last time I ordered, the people never shipped them, kept saying they would and didn’t and I finally had to go through my credit card and get a refund so I haven’t ordered those again. I’ve seen others but haven’t bought them but then I saw this lotion bar kit and ordered that for Nicole.
Chad has ordered a 3D printer and is excited about the possibility of things he can make. He’s working with a guy who does a lot of 3D printing so Chad and that guy seem to be in a 3D printing frenzy. I’m sure Vince can come up with some 3D printing ideas for gifts for Chad.
While I was looking around at Brambleberry, I found this Carrot Hair Conditioner recipe and ordered the things I needed to make that. I already had the squalane oil, which I buy in a larger container because I use that a lot, and I already had lavender essential oil and I didn’t need the jars, even though they’re cuter than jelly jars.
The Carrot Hair Conditioner will be for me but I thought I could make lotion bars for my friends for gifts so I ordered the molds and the ingredients I didn’t already have so I can make the Tangerine Lotion Bars and the Rose Lotion Bars. I have several small molds for soapmaking that I can use for lotion bars.
Now, let’s just home all this arrives in time for me to play in the kitchen and get some lotion bar gifts made.
Speaking of gifts, I did get two gifts for Vince. I got him this Dachshund game. Speaking of dachshunds, Oscar and Cooper got into a real dog fight this afternoon. They were angrily growling and showing their teeth and seriously trying to hurt each other. I’ve always heard not to get in the middle of a dog fight so I grabbed the spray (water) bottle that I keep next to me and that stopped them but Oscar seems a bit apprehensive about being too close to Cooper now. Cooper is much smaller than Oscar but, surprisingly, Oscar lets Cooper walk all over him so I’m going to have to start paying more attention. I would never have thought Oscar would have been this way.
The other gift I got Vince is a Ryan Hall Y’all-O-Meter 2.0. I got the regular and I doubt we ever get more than 30″ of snow but if we do, I’ll be happy (so long as we’re both home when it happens). We love Ryan Hall. Any time there’s a chance of bad weather here, Ryan Hall’s YouTube channel is the first place we go to for weather monitoring and updates.
I think I’ve just knocked out almost all, maybe ALL, of my Christmas shopping that I hadn’t already done.

My Christmas shopping is easy for the kids. I get them a quarter of beef. We have a local guy we purchase it from, he hauls it to the processing center and we pick it up all packaged. I love easy shopping.
