Good grief . . it’s 2:30 p.m. and I just sat down to stitch. The garden is winding down. I have one batch of tomatoes to can and I’m seriously thinking about not doing them. I have about 5 bags of elderberries to juice and freeze or can. I’ll probably do that next week.
This weekend is sit and stitch and I plan to go. Others . . like everyone else . . comes in with a bag about the size of a grocery sacks. I come in with my light that clamps onto the table, the cord for it, a table stand, a project in a scroll frames . . it takes me two or three trips to get in and out. I decided to lighten the load.
I got out the Daylight Go Halo Magnifying Light, got it charged and it’s ready to go. I for this “Dachshund bag” a while back and I like it a lot. It will hold a project or two, the Go Halo, a Poke A Dote organizer, which has my scissors, a small notepad, pen, a pencil, a couple of bandaids, etc., my Samsung tablet that I use for Markup. The Hoop’n Tray also fits in there and, instead of carrying a full size stand and a project in a scroll frames, I’m going to keep a “travel project” that works ok in a hoop and that will be my once a month stitching project. It can also be the project I take when going somewhere that I might be able to stitch for a while.
One last thing I keep in the bag is a travel charger. This is my newest one but I have probably a dozen of these. Some are 6 or more years old and still work fine. Some have to be charged with electricity, which means I can charge them from a solar battery/inverter if the power is out; I can charge them in the car and a couple of them have built in solar panels so I just put it out on the deck railing to charge. I like the new one because it has all the different “ends” along with short cords so I can charge an iPad, a phone, a Samsung tablet – I think there’s an end for everything I have. The older ones just have the holes/ports and you have to have/bring your own cord. These will stay charged for a very long time if not being used. Any time we have a chance of a storm which means there’s a chance of the power being out, I make sure these are all charged. I take a couple with me for any road trips – even a trip to Chad’s or Springfield because with our older cars, we only have one charger plug thing in the Honda and two in the Highlander. One of us will run our phone down, sometimes a tablet of a Kindle needs to be charged – just easier to have a battery that can charge devices than to be waiting for a turn with the car charger.
I think I can put everything in the Dachshund bag, including my wallet and phone so I can get in and out with one bag. We’ll see.

…I recently read that when going on a trip we need to have these battery packs so I just got one to keep in the truck. Vanessa is going to loan me one that will work for Donnie’s phone. The one I bought only has the “C” connector and I kind of wish I had gotten one like yours.

Most of the ones I have, I have to use my own cords so I can use one from the Samsung tablet/phone, or one from the iPad or one from the Kindle but I always have to remember to have those cords with me so it’s super nice to have the ones with the cords. I’ve heard (but haven’t tried it) that you can charge two or three things at once, so long as they all use different ends.
