It kinda looks like Big Foot has been walking through our yard!
Yesterday Vince started digging holes for posts for a trellis and holes for four grapevines. He started digging and said “This ground is like concrete!” He made good progress but after a while he filled the holes with water to let it sit and soften the ground a bit. Then it rained 2″ so hopefully the digging will be a bit easier when he gets back to finishing that job. There’s supposed to be enough rain today that I doubt we’ll be doing much outside.

From across the yard, since Vince removed all the dirt instead of piling it up by the holes, it really looked funny when I went out there about dusk that first night. He’s still digging. I think he has the holes for the post all done and has to dig the holes for the plants a bit bigger. I had wanted to be sure we got them planted in time for the roots to grow a bit before it freezes. Seems like it will be forever before it gets cold but I know it will get here sooner than most folks are ready for.
