I’ll finish out the month working on This I Know. My plan for yesterday was to work all the way up to the top so I could measure and see if there is enough fabric left to stitch the Winter Camp Project which is sponsored by Colorado Cross Stitcher.
I stitched the bird in the basket, the top leaf, the first ring of the sun, “Jesus loves me” and a couple of the little doo-dads. I had a strand of the peach floss on the needle so I added a partial row at the top of the house (just to use up that strand) and I finished one of the leaves on the left side of the flower. I stitched 561 stitches. That was a good stitching day.
I measured and there’s right at 9″ above this piece and right at 9″ to the left of this piece.
The project I’m wanting to stitch for Winter Camp is Kindness Matters from the Summer, 2020 issue of Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher magazine.
You can see that the stitched area is going to be 4.5″ x 4.5″ but with extra for finishing and a border, I need 8.5″ x 8.5″.
I would like to stitch it to the left of This I Know but, it’s going to be tight. I’m ok with 3/4″ border and 3/4 to 1″ for lacing, which would mean I could get by with 7.5″. I’m pretty comfortable stitching this to the left of This I Know with 7.5″, which is what I have.
This project cannot be started until February 1 so what I will do is stitch that bottom border first. That is quick and simple and will let me know if I have enough fabric. If not, I’ll stitch it at the top of This I Know. I’m a bit tight on the length there so I’ll start at the top and work down and if I don’t have enough room, I can leave off the bottom border and I can make the stems on both flowers about 5 stitches shorter and that will work.
Now that I’ve decided what to stitch, I’m excited to get started but I must wait til February 1. Until February 1, I will continue working on This I Know.
