After coming across the video that I mentioned in this post, I hardly stopped thinking about those ornaments and the dies. I guess I talked about them too because Vince said “Are you going to want to buy one of those machines?” I told him I was hoping the dies would work with the Accuquilt Go Cutter. He said “And, if they don’t, you’re going to buy a machine?” I assured him that IF I did buy a machine, it wasn’t going to be terribly expensive.
They dies arrived yesterday and the Go Cutter would not work with them or, I should say, I couldn’t get it to work with them. I had Vince look at it and he said “Just buy the machine you want!” Well, that’s all I needed to hear.
I had convinced myself I would get the Spellbinders machine – just wasn’t sure if I would get the 8.5″ or the 6″ machine. I can’t really see a time when I’d need the bigger one but for the extra money, it would probably be worth it to get the larger one.
The more I researched and looked and talked to people who use them, I was on the fence again about which machine to order so I asked Vince to look at them and see what he thought. Of course, the price drew him to the Sissex Big Shot Pro cutter, but also, it has great ratings. So, now I wait!
Nichol Spohr made a birdhouse in a snow globe yesterday on this video. That’s made with paper, not felt but I think I’ll enjoy making a few things with paper too. Another hobby – just what I did NOT need! 🙂

Thanks! I had already ordered these and I have a couple of slide out bins that they will fit into.

I think you might need an adapter to use other dies with the Go.

I couldn’t find anything about it so I just ordered a different cutter.

Unless something has changed, the Accuquilt cutters can use only Accuquilt dies. They are thinner than other brands. You can use Accuquilt dies in the Sizzix Big Shot & Big Shot Plus with an adapter, which is basically a sheet of plastic(?) the right thickness. The Accuquilt Studio (their big one) needs an adapter to use regular Accuquilt dies, but I’m unsure if it can use dies from other brands.

Yes, the whole concept is different. The Go dies have the cutter inside the “box” and you put the fabric over them and roll it through. The new paper cutting dies are mostly what they call “wafer thin” and they are very thin. I tried several ways to get them to work with the Accuquilt Go and they won’t work.
