I pulled out a piece of linen to use for a project and the color was Peddler’s Blend but it didn’t have the name of the dyer on it. I knew that it came from Kitten Stitcher so I did a bit of sleuthing and found that it was dyed by Dames of the Needle so I contacted them, wrote to them and asked if they would dye a whole yard of 40 count for me.
It arrived yesterday. I spread it out in the floor (when Oscar wasn’t in the room) and I couldn’t stop looking at it. I should be able to use five or six pieces of this linen and have them all look different.
This is the kind of linen I love to buy, and what I was hoping to get when I ordered those yards of Duxbury.
These mottled pieces aren’t always easy to use. I’ll have to find the perfect chart for this busy, splotchy print but it’s one of those things that if I hadn’t got it, I’d find the perfect chart for it and be forever wishing I had bought it . . like that purple dress I didn’t buy 40 years ago, went back to get and it was gone and I still think about it! 🙂

That purple dress sounds like you have a severe case of the “shuddabots”. A long-ago article on traveling warned about the shuddabots. You don’t want to get home and say “I shuddabot this souvenir, or that one.” I shuddabot a delicious Gammel Dags ice cream cone in Denmark, but I was watching my weight. I had to endure seeing the rest of the family enjoying them. I shuddabot a Dala horse in Sweden, even though they were expensive. But in that case, I got lucky and found one at a thrift shop at home, which cured me! I still regret that ice cream cone.

My biggest “shoulda” goes back to my first visit to a cross stitch shop. Not knowing how well I would take to it, I didn’t buy a chart that WAS my husband. It looked difficult to my untrained eyes. I went back in less than a week and it was nowhere to be found and whoever was working could not figure out what it might have been. Thus, fabric for quilts that I won’t get used in 3 lifetimes!! I know ‘they’ will make more but THIS will be gone when I come back! My purple dress!
