Through the years, I’ve watched hundreds of prepping type videos and shows so don’t ask me how I had never heard of Rose Red Homestead until this week but I’ve been binge watching her videos. There are some doom and gloom prepper type people out there, I’ve come across some videos that made me cringe. I’m not an expert (at anything) but listening to some videos has me truly wondering where people get their knowledge and who would think their ideas were good. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of good ones but I feel like people really have to be careful who they trust when learning new things.
Red Rose Homestead has some amazing videos. I’ve watched a dozen or more of her videos but this one about cutting up two chickens and making 12 meals for 2 people has me wanting to try it. You can watch or skip through the part where she cuts up the two chickens. I think most of us know how to cut up a chicken. You may need to watch what she does with the breasts.
In the area below the video, she has a link to a free booklet with the recipes she uses.
I would love to get two chickens and cut them up today and start on this but . . the foot! I’ll wait but did want to share this. If anyone tries it, please let me know what you think.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to send Vince shopping – for 2 chickens. I’m intrigued with being able to extend those birds to that many meals. Impressive! I could probably make it stretch that far if it was only me eating it, as I don’t eat as much meat as my husband does.

The recipes have other hearty ingredients so it wouldn’t hurt to try. You could always make one of the breast recipes and see how it goes. I find that when I chop up the meat, and add rice or pasta and make it a one dish type meal, the meat goes a lot farther.

I just found her also. I saw that video and downloaded the free book. She really has great info. Watched one today about using dry ice in her buckets.

In my 73 years, I’ve never cut up a chicken!! Why start now? We don’t eat any of the dark meat so no need to learn.

I’ve cut up chickens since I’ve started cooking right after my college days so it doesn’t bother me. Vince will eat the dark meat and I’ll sometimes eat the dark meat, depending on how it’s cooked.

I don’t have them upstairs because the kitchen has wood floors and I’m afraid moisture will get under them. I had a big one ordered for the basement kitchen, which is just concrete floor but it hasn’t shipped and it’s been several weeks so I canceled that and will find one either at Home Depot, Sam’s or somewhere. I don’t really care about pretty but I was wanting a rather large one that could be in front of the stove, fridge and the work area and not have separate ones. We’ll see. I will find something by the time I’m ready to start standing and canning again.
