When we lived in Texas, I had my neighbor, Mary, and we saw each other often and shared goodies that we baked or bought but other than that, I didn’t have anyone there that I visited much with or that I shared homemade things with.
Yesterday I was picking up in the kitchen and on the end of my counter, I have three dishes that belong to friends here. Each dish had held something that had been made and shared with us. I have another friend who stopped by the other day to drop off eggs. She has been wanting a sourdough starter so she came by yesterday to get that. I was able to put her starter in a dish that I needed to return to her. She sat and visited for about an hour. We were talking about our gardens and she said she was wanting to grow turmeric and asked if I had ever grown it. I happen to have 20 one gallon grow bags with turmeric so I gave her two of those.
Vince and I had gone to town and while we were gone, there was someone at our front door. It was a neighbor’s husband. I saw that he had something in his hand but didn’t know what it was til I got home and found a grocery sack hanging on our door. He had brought over mangoes and a couple of other goodies they had purchased while on a trip last week.
It makes me smile to see a loaf of blueberry bread given to us by a friend, duck eggs in the fridge from another friend and dishes needing to be returned to neighbors. I need to bake something so I can return those dishes full!
This is a good place to live!

Isn’t it wonderful having such good neighbors? Our previous neighborhood was like that. I miss that here – everyone is friendly, but don’t share things back and forth.

This is wonderful! I am so glad you have neighbors who think like you do and enjoy a lot of the same things.
