I don’t do a whole lot more (or less) when Addie is here but I always seem exhausted when she leaves. I think it’s just having an extra person in the house – I’m constantly in “supervisor” mode – making sure things don’t get out of hand between Addie and Vince, making sure she and Boots are ok. She wants to play way more than he wants to play. He’ll usually find a place to hide and she wants me to help her find him. I tell her — if he’s hiding, he doesn’t want to be found . . he isn’t playing hide and seek . . he wants to be left alone. There isn’t really more cooking but I do try to plan decent snacks before bedtime and it seems like the sink is always full of dishes if I don’t stay on top of that.
So, I took her to meet Nicole, got home and wanted to take a nap but wanted to cross stitch more.
We have two fridges that have to be cleaned out . . as in emptied completely out . . by tomorrow afternoon. The kitchen fridge has to emptied because the new kitchen fridge is being delivered. They will take away the fridge Jeremy left in the garage and put the kitchen fridge in the garage so, the “Jeremy fridge” has to be emptied. I got the “Texas fridge” that’s in the garage cleaned out and most of what’s in the Jeremy fridge will go in there. Most of what’s in the kitchen fridge will go in the basement fridge. I’m glad we have the extra space but it is a lot of work.
On top of everything else, Saturday night when I got in bed, I thought . . I think I have a UTI. I went to sleep and Sunday I didn’t even think of it til I got in bed and I thought . . yep, it feels like a UTI. This morning I got up and was sure so I called the doctor. They said come by and let’s check a sample so yep, now I have to take antibiotics and go back in three weeks for a re-check because I also had protein in my urine, which the doctor said “Don’t panic . . it’s probably from the UTI.” Let’s hope.
When I said “I’m going to the doctor”, Addie didn’t want to stay home and I told her she didn’t need to come in the doctor’s office, though I was fairly sure there wouldn’t be anyone else in there; and I didn’t want her staying in the car by herself so Vince said he would go too. He and Addie sat in the car and had a scavenger hunt in his car. It may be time to clean out both vehicles when there’s enough in there to have a pretty fun scavenger hunt.
The dishwasher is running, the sink is empty, the cast iron has been oiled . . I’ll be in my chair stitching for the rest of this day.

Be careful with the UTIs.
I had them as a young adult and they were painful. But, a friend stood up, fell, and broke some bones. The cause of the fainting was an UTI, but it’s not as noticeable in older folks. Scary… so I’m trying to make sure I drink plenty of water even though it means more trips to the bathroom during the winter. I seem to sweat off the excess fluids in the OK summers!

I guess it’s hard to know you have one if you have no symptoms. Goodness . . not sure what you’re supposed to do about that. I do try to drink a lot of water but probably need to drink more.
Thanks for that warning. There’s so much I need to know and don’t know!

Also, in the “elderly”, UTI’s cause confusion and sometimes combative behavior.
I totally understand the exhaustion after having a little one. It’s that requirement to always be “on guard” when they’re around that does it to me.

Goodness . . maybe I’ve had a UTI for 10 years or so. Vince would say I’m always confused and combative. 🙂

You’re too funny!

My grandma and my dr always said drink cranberry juice it helps slicken the bladder so that the bacteria doesn’t stay in the bladder and cause issues in your bladder.

Cranberry juice is about the only juice I drink and I’m sure it does help.

When my Mother had frequent UTI:s she was sent to a uriologist who placed my Mom on D-Manose supplements. They are over the counter supplements. I order them from Swanson on line as I cannot find them here. The moderate expense is very worth it as not one more UTI in 10 years. I have a couple of friends that have gotten these for an older relative and those ladies also have not had another UTI.

It’s been four years since I had one so I’m not going to go that route yet. I did also have protein in my urine, which he said could be a result of the infection so he’s going to check it again in three weeks and if it’s still there, I’ll see a urologist.

I hardly had any UTIs in my adult years until after I had a partial nephrectomy for kidney cancer. It seemed I kept getting them for a few years after that. Fortunately it’s been a long while since I’ve had one as it’s not a fun thing. Being tired after Addie leaves is not surprising as it’s not so much the physical things you do but also the mental. It takes a lot of mental energy keeping everything just so when another person is around and if it’s a young person, well you can double or triple that! We’ll be doing the fridge emptying and moving around next weekend. We have less to move around (just one extra fridge) and nothing goes in the basement so I really feel for you moving all the stuff. Hope the delivery goes well!

Kidney cancer? I’m so glad you survived that!
One fridge is empty. I was able to clean out the “Texas fridge” and the “Jeremy fridge” and then put everything into the Texas fridge. The garage is cold so I left the cheese (there’s a LOT of cheese) and the drinks – kombucha, juices, eggs, breads, etc. . . that kind of stuff just out in the garage.
I have ice chests in the kitchen so when it’s almost time for them to get here, I’ll put everything from that fridge into the ice chests and put everything from the freezers into bags and stick in the garage. They’re supposed to be here around noon so I’ll do all that about 11:45.
Hopefully, they’ll take the kitchen fridge and set it up in the garage and I can put stuff back in there while they set up the kitchen fridge.
