I think I may have just figured out how/why Kim at The Contented Stitcher gets so much more accomplished than I do.
Could it be (1) Her husband doesn’t want to go to town every single day and insist she goes with him? or (2) She doesn’t lose everything she touches . . sometimes twice in one day!
This morning I was going to look at The Mighty Acorn, a chart that’s in Blackbird’s Winds of Autumn book. I spent a long time searching for my book. I knew I went to bed one night looking at it. I looked under the bed, behind the bed, in the nightstand drawers, anywhere I might have put it down. I asked Vince . . have you seen a booklet that looks kinda like this? I explained to him that I had been looking at it in bed. He said “Do you think it’s downstairs? You’ve been sleeping down there for over a week? By the way, last night I thought I was kinda done coughing but within 15 minutes of getting in bed, I kept coughing so I got up and went downstairs. Is this cough ever going to end?
I went down to work on Addie’s pillow and decided to look in the downstairs bedroom and yes, right there on the nightstand was Winds of Autumn. I brought it up, waved it at Vince and said “You were right! It was downstairs.”
Then, Vince said “Let’s go to town. We still have gift cards to the steak house and I want to run by the flea market.” I told him . . I’ll go IF I can stay in the car while you go to the flea market and IF you’ll stay no more than half an hour!” OK.
We left at 12:40 and got back at 4 p.m.
The meat store we like had a sale on roasts so I called Chad to see if he wanted any. Yes, two of any kind please. So, we got roasts, came home and found a place for them in the freezer, came in . . where’s that Winds of Autumn chart? Still can’t find it. Now I’ve wasted another hour.
Kim probably finished two pieces today while I’ve been losing/finding/losing/searching for ONE chart and running around town.

Maybe you took it with you to look at in the car.

I thought of that a few minutes ago and went out and looked in the car. Not there. You would think wherever I sat it down, it would be right on top of something and easy to spot but . . not the case. I give up for tonight.

Hi , I asked Kim how she was such a prolific stitcher/finisher and she kindly came back and said she uses the two handed method. So I’ve looked up on YouTube and blow me down its the way I stitch anyway. Now I need a button to freeze everything around me and let me get on!!

I can stitch two handed if using a frame but even then, I’m not that fast. I need four hands and probably still couldn’t come close to stitching as much as she does.

Judy, you always have your camera on you. If or when you do find something you are looking for and move it to another spot, take a picture of it. Then you know where to retrieve it and can delete the photo.

No. I don’t always have my camera with me because at least half the time, I don’t know where my phone is. Plus, I didn’t “put” it somewhere, I absent mindedly sat it down without even noticing what I was doing. If I had the mental acuity to pay attention to what I was doing, none of this would be happening!

Retracing your steps, you took it upstairs and Vince said “let’s go.” Did you immediately start getting ready to go out? Could it be in the closet or the bathroom? Or did you get a chance to take it back downstairs.
Hope you get better soon! Losing sleep doesn’t help…anything.

Yes, and I kept going back to see if I had put it down on our bed or our dresser or had I taken it into the bathroom and put it somewhere in there? I found it now so that’s done . . on to the next crazy thing I do! 🙂

I totally understand what you are going through, last night after dinner I went to put some floss I got into my kits. I had a list of what I ordered and what was needed and could not find them anywhere. I did all the kitting sitting in my stitchy spot, so there were limited places I could have put it. Search for 30 minutes and then decided to just open each bag and see what was needed. Took about 2 hours, finished up, and reach to get my stitching glasses and their holder toppled and what was below them…yes my list. I swear I looked there 10 times while searching. My mom used to tell me I would lose my head if it were not attached.
I hope you feel better soon, I go tomorrow for my booster and flu shot. Hopefully without incident. And then it is home to stitch the day away.

Thanks for the giggle. My parents always told me the same thing – you’d lose your head if it wasn’t hooked on!
You’re brave to be getting them both the same day! Good luck. I hope you feel 100% ok!
Tomorrow I plan to stitch all day too. I will have to cook but other than that, it’s going to be a day of stitching I hope.

I can totally relate trying to find something you set down. Just like Shauna I was putting floss I had received the day before into their respective kits. I had made a list of the floss and which kit needed it when I ordered it. I thought I had taken the list downstairs but when I got everything together I couldn’t find it. To be honest, the table I was working on had piles of stuff but the most recent stuff was on top…lol. Anyway, looked everywhere and couldn’t find it but sure enough, as soon as I was done I looked down and there it was! I have a new list as somehow I overlooked a few colors and I’m thinking the same thing will happen. I think I will take a picture of the list with my phone so if I can’t find the paper I’ll have it…lol Btw….I received 2 of 3 orders from Owl Forest. They took a month but I love the floss and now I will need to shop for fabric and decide which project I will start first!
