All afternoon this weather forecast has been baffling me. I know I’m missing something that the rest of the world understands but here’s our forecast for tonight and tomorrow.
I understand that Wednesday (today) ends at midnight. Thursday starts at 12:01 a.m., or something like that.
Wouldn’t you think looking at that forecast that there’s nothing lower than 34 degrees supposed to happen between now (9:30 p.m. Wed., 11/3), and midnight Thursday, 11/4?
But, we have this warning there by Thursday:
28 degrees? Is that in our forecast? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. If I look at the hourly forecast for Thursday between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m., it isn’t showing those kinds of temps but yet the red bar indicating the warning is still there.
I went out and brought in all the plants I could carry, brought them into the garage – the bay leaf trees, the crocus I planted today, the rosemary, a couple of Gerbera Daisies that have grown huge that I probably will not be able to keep through the winter. I may go back out and retrieve my lantana hanging basket but it’s kinda way out in the darkness and I’m a chicken.
I don’t understand that freeze warning.

Watch the DEWPOINT to see if it’s going to frost/freeze. It’s more reliable. Dips and hills have different temps, thus the warning so you might bring things in if you want.

I was surprised that the weather forecast didn’t mention 28, yet the warning did and it was 28 at 7 a.m.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. It’s 34* here this morning, we are just south of you. Haven’t looked out to see if I see any frost yet.

It was 28 when I remembered to look at the temp . . about 7 a.m.

I was thinking the freeze warning was for a more general area, but since it did get down to 28°, it looks like one of your forecasts is better than the other! Good thing you were proactive.
