One thing I do when knitting that makes me so aggravated is that I see things I know are going to bother me but I make a decision to leave it and live with it; keep knitting and then decide I can’t live with it and have to rip back rows and rows and rows.
This shawl I’m working on has 3 knit stitches on each edge. When I’m doing a purl row, it’s so easy to keep purling, even with a stitch marker there to remind me. Saturday night when I was knitting, I realized that about 4 rows back, I had purled two rows all the way to the end and that made the edge wrong. I carefully dropped the stitches down and fixed them but on one edge stitch, I didn’t get it right. I didn’t notice it til I had knitted about two inches farther. I convinced myself that I could block it just right and that stitch wouldn’t be obvious. So, I knitted another inch or so. Then Sunday when I started to knit again, and looked at it, I said “NO! I cannot live with that” and had to rip back about 14 rows. If I had stopped when I first realized it, I could have ripped back probably half as far and fixed it. So much wasted time. The sad thing is that I will do it again and be aggravated at myself again.
I wish I could get the color to photograph better on this. It’s so beautiful! The grays and purples together are just perfect for this project. So glad I (1) had this yarn in my stash and (2) found it and decided to use it.

I can sure relate; I did the same thing last night. It looks like it’s going to be a pretty shawl!

It looks beautiful. What was it you always said to me? Don’t forget the lifelines! LOL I still do!

I’m glad to hear my mentor does the same thing I keep doing on this baby blanket I’m knitting–each row starts and finishes with 10 knitted stitches. On the purl row I have to really pay attention!
