We’ve now met two of our three neighbors. Our little street only has two houses. The house next to us, we’ve met both the husband and the wife, and the dog who peed on my foot! Good thing I’m a dog lover and it was a little dog and I had on rubber flip flops!
Behind us, there’s another little road with one house directly behind us and one house next to them. The guy directly behind us was out cutting his grass, Vince was out with Rita and he stopped and walked over to meet Vince.
Vince: I met the guy behind us and he seems really nice.
Me: Oh, that’s good!
Vince: He’s Italian!
Me: Does he look Italian?
Vince: He wears glasses.
What the heck does wearing glasses have to do with being Italian or looking Italian. I know not all Italians are dark complected with dark hair and the reason I was asking was because I had seen a blonde guy out but didn’t know if that was the resident or not.
They have a little boy — maybe four years old Vince said. The kid said “I want to come in your house.” Vince said “Fine . . come over!” I told Vince he might have said “Just make sure we’re home!” 🙂
I asked Vince if the little boy said anything about Rita’s eyes. He didn’t but he said “My dog is bigger than your dog.” Vince said “That’s ok!”
The man told Vince to watch out for Rita because we have copperheads in the area. We’re not even going to talk about snakes. I’m going to convince myself they do not exist! I do not want to see them. I do not want to know they’re here. I’ve experienced enough snakes that I’m done with them. I just want to live without snakes!!
Vince thought it was funny because they bought their house the first day it was on the market – in late April or early May. Vince said “We did too – but we never even saw ours before we bought it.” They both laughed because real estate in this area is selling so fast, that’s about the only way to get a house here now, but I think a lot of places are that way.
We also met the old guy who lives across from us. He has a lot of land and it really looks like there’s no one living across from us because he’s a good ways back. He has a chestnut orchard so I’m anxious to watch the harvest and have some local chestnuts for the holidays.

Sounds like Vince is off to a good start with the neighbors!

I think Vince may come out of his shell and make some good friends there. I have never had roasted chestnuts. But I have always lived in Texas. I have had parched peanuts though! LOL
