Addie’s other grandma has chickens so even though she was only around my chickens the one time she was in Texas with us, she’s been around the her entire life. She loves animals! She’d sit outside for hours trying to get close enough to the bunnies in our yard, thinking for sure she would be able to catch one of them.
Now that they have their own chickens, they all have names and almost all of them are pets and will come to her when she calls them and walk right up and let her pick them up.
But .. her favorite and the most spoiled is Opal.
Addie out on her swing with Opal. Addie isn’t really asleep but I think Opal might have been til Nicole walked up to take the picture.
I think that’s the cutest picture – Nicole is going to see about getting a couple printed that we can frame.

I have a children’s book called Ikerchat and Sarah by Pamela Lloyd that is brought to my mind when I saw this darling picture. It’s about a little girl who saves a chicken.
