Things get stuck in the most unlikely places and are never seen again. It’s always so exciting when I find something that’s been lost, especially those things I’ve given up searching for.
This morning I was wanting to make some concoctions and needed a few things that were in a big tote in an extra bedroom. I knew where they were .. thanks to my spreadsheet! Retrieved the things I needed and as I was walking out of the room, there was a tote sitting there with no number on it. I thought . . I wonder what’s in there.
Ahh . . the motherlode of lost treasures. There was a grocery sack in there with all kinds of unrelated items in it.
This may not seem like a big deal unless you have a favorite thimble! I have had this one forever. I bought two more just like it but they weren’t really just like it. They fit a bit differently so this one is still my favorite. It’s been a long time since I saw it . . at least a couple of years.
I have several sets of measuring spoons but this one is my favorite. I don’t like plastic measuring spoons and I don’t like the ones that are more flat and shallow. I like these because they’re deep and to me, they’re easier to use. I had given up on finding them.
I was sewing on something! My guess is that wherever I went, I took something to sew and it was already pinned but I didn’t have a pin cushion so I put the pins in a paper towel as I took them out.
Last was this sock needle set. I have a couple of the needles from this set that were in socks that I’m still using. The orange socks are one that’s on these needles. I’ve almost ordered another set several times because I thought this little set was gone forever, but the set is expensive so I held off.
A plastic sack with straight pins, thimble, measuring spoons and a set of knitting needles. A weird combination but it made me happy to find them all. Well, the straight pins weren’t a big thrill but everything else was.

With that combination of “lost is now found” items, it reminds me of when I’m picking up “real” quickly and toss everything (totally unrelated items) into a bag to take care of later. Somehow or other later is NOT later that day or even that week, LOL.

That’s exactly how so many things get lost around here. Or, someone is coming over and I have to do a super quick clutter bust and everything goes out of sight but not necessarily where it should go.
Heather Sedlacek says
If only your missing cookie molds had been there too!
Laura says
I thought of the missing cookie molds too!
Judy Laquidara says
Surprisingly, I didn’t think of them but I only use them around Christmas so it’s a while before they’ll be on my mind non-stop.
Teri says
I thought you had found the cookie molds too!

We are all living this life to a degree. But usually I replace the item and THEN refind it.
Helen B says
I, too, was hoping your cookie molds were in the bag. One day (maybe) you will come across them.
Judy Laquidara says
I’m going to find them some day!
Sandie says
Either you will, (hopefully!) or Chad will!
Nelle Coursey says
It is amazing some of the things we find that we thought we had lost forever. I have done this several times.

I hunted and hunted once for the 1/4 cup out of my favorite set of measuring cups…I eventually found it in the container of powdered sugar. Not something I use very often.
Judy Laquidara says
I’ve done that too!
Susan Nixon says
What treasures those are! If I would clean out my bedroom and sewing room, I would find dozens of wonderful treasures. LOL
Judy Laquidara says
Yes, there are way more buried treasures around here too.
Rebecca in SoCal says
When packing to move, I had a couple “Oh, THERE it is!” moments!

Was my crochet hook in there? I lost it last week and had to go buy another because it was the ONLY ONE I don’t have several duplicates of. I put it in the skein of yarn I was working with, then put it in the bag with the afghan and when I went to pull it out the next day it was gone! Must have been the cats! So glad you found all those things…especially the needles!
