Maybe! I grew up listening to country music – the really old country music. I’ve never listened to anything except country music but the old country is still my favorite. When Addie gets in my car, the first thing she says every time is “Do we have to listen to Texas music?” I’ve tried to tell her it isn’t Texas music but more Granny music.
Vince has never liked country music. He’s a 60/70’s rock type guy. Lately, he’s been listening to country music. I don’t ask any questions. I just keep my fingers crossed that he’ll become a country music convert.
Yesterday he was listening to music on his tablet and sent me this link to Joey & Rory singing “That’s Important to Me”.
That song has been one of my favorites ever since I first heard it. Even if you aren’t a country music fan, please take a moment to listen to the words of the song. Everything about it . . it’s what’s important to me.
I told Vince that I love that song. He said “You could have written it!” . . except I don’t write songs but yes, if a song ever summed up how I feel, that’s it. Planting a garden and watching it grow; Loving my husband and being a good wife; Being the best mother I can be; Feeding my family a home cooked meal . . I love that song!

Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, my dad (and sometimes my mom) played in a Country-Western Band. A typical Friday evening for us was spent at a school gymnasium within a half-hour to 45 minutes from home. All 5 of us kids would spend the evening dancing with each other or other kids of band members. When we got tired, we could go back stage and fall asleep on the piles of coats. They always played that “old” country music, so that’s pretty much all we listened to at our house. I’ve been a country fan ever since. I still enjoy, but don’t really listen to country music anymore. You brought back lots of memories!! (BTW, dad played the Steel (Hawaiian) Guitar and mom played the Bass Guitar. Every one of us kids played at least one musical instrument, with one getting a degree in music education and one played in an Army Band.) 🙂

I like it, too. Vince may finally be seeing the light. I like his music, too. And classical. And jazz. =)

If he does learn to love country music, it will make our trips to MO a whole lot more to my liking.

We always listened to country music when I was a kid. Daddy always wanted to listen to it. He loved Jim Reeves, Eddie Arnold, Hank Williams and especially all the old songs. In the 60’s and 70’s I liked the rock music like Blood Sweat and Tears, Iron Butterfly, Beatles, etc. Then in the 80’s or 90’s I started listening to country music again. Then the country music started not being “country music”. It was something else. But I still like it and especially the old ones.

It was very sad when she died as they both lived not very far from us. Those that knew her said she was precious and very down to earth ! Very good song by the way …
Judy Laquidara says
Yes, very sad, and I had heard she was a sweet lady.
