When it comes to buying meat in our town, Aldi is our favorite place to shop. OK .. I’ll admit it. Aldi is our favorite place to shop for everything! I truly have fun in there and feel so lucky to have an Aldi in our little town.
Aldi Salmon is always fresh! We get the pieces with the skin on the back side and it’s just perfect for smoking. We paid about $13 for this piece (including the $5 off) and we’ll have at least three meals from this piece of fish. That’s just a little over $2 per serving not counting sides, prep (a bit of salt and brown sugar) and the cost of cooking it.
Most of it had a “sell by” date by the day after we bought it. Most of it went into the freezer but the salmon was cooked Saturday.
Vince makes the best salmon. Here’s an old blog post (2012) about how he makes it. We’ve had a lot of salmon during these almost 8 years! The only thing that’s changed through the years is that he now smokes it about 2-1/2 hours instead of 2 hours because I like it a bit more dry.
Because we’re trying to stay on a Keto diet, we had salmon, steamed broccoli and cream cheese.
Not only was dinner delicious, inexpensive, healthy, but it’s easy, with very little mess.

We do most of our shopping at Aldi, too! It is fun to see what new things they have on that one aisle that changes often. I have never seen salmon, or other meats, marked down at our Aldi, though.

I love my Aldi. If it weren’t for the butter I like and a couple other things, I wouldn’t even go in another store. You can’t beat simple and low clean up!

It all looks really good. I prepare rotel cheese dip to pour over our steamed broccoli. Yum!
