The rain is supposed to be coming tomorrow. My fingers are crossed that it starts early rather than late. As soon as the propane guy left, we ran to town to get onions. I got sweet yellow and red onions. Vince was saying “Get more! You won’t be able to plant more later!” Why do I ever listen to him?
We ended up with about 3 pounds of tiny little onions – that’s probably a million of them! I hope the garden fairy comes tonight while I’m sleeping and plants them all!
Vince looked at one weather website and they say rain at 7:00 a.m. I looked at another and it says rain begins at 2 p.m. I hope the 7 a.m. is right and I can sit and knit all day while it rains. Otherwise, I’ll be out planting onions most of the morning.
It’s ok. I won’t be complaining when I have fresh, homegrown onions. I’m assuming it’s a local issue but the onions I buy in the store are just awful. I keep thinking . . am I the only one getting these bad onions or everyone else ok with them. This year, we harvested our onions in probably June, put them on the garlic drying racks (made of chicken wire) and they are still perfect – so much better than the onions I buy in the store most of the time. I was concerned about how the onions were going to store with the heat in the shop but they seem fine.
So, while I’m out there planting onions and wishing I were inside knitting, I’ll remind myself how good those fresh onions will be.
But, it would still be nice for the garden fairy to plant those onions while I’m sleeping, don’t you think?

The forecast I saw said the rain was supposed to be over by around 2pm or earlier. It didn’t look like we were going to get much anyway. I hope they are wrong!! We didn’t even get enough to show in the rain gauge.

Looks like at 3 pm, it will definitely be raining. That’s when it says 100% chance. LOL Otherwise, a more than 70% chance from 10 am to 6 pm. The rest varies. Good luck with onions and knitting, both.

It was actually drizzling when I got up so I wasn’t about to tromp around in freshly tilled dirt that was wet. Breakfast has been served, the kitchen is somewhat clean; dinner is started; 2 loads of laundry done and I’m in my chair fixing to knit for hours!
