Yesterday Vince grilled steak and we came up with the idea to make two different kinds of black garlic sauce for the steak.
I peeled about 5 bulbs of black garlic, put it in the pan, added a little olive oil and mashed the garlic with a fork. I barely warmed the garlic because whatever nutritious/health benefits it has, I figured it was better not to heat the heck out of it. But that’s just a guess on my part.
Vince loves oregano so he was happy to add a little extra olive oil and oregano to part of the black garlic – just enough oil to make it spreadable.
For the rest of the black garlic sauce, I added a bit of Half & Half, chopped jalapeno, and parmesan cheese. I should have sauted the peppers first, then put the garlic in the pot but I didn’t think about adding the peppers til the end.
We had steamed asparagus and baked purple sweet potatoes.
It was delicious!

I stumbled across black garlic at the local grocery store the other day. I debated about buying it, but now wish I had. Back to my local Vons (Safeway) to pick up a package of it.
