Last night Vince grilled steaks. I baked two different types of sweet potatoes and heated up leftover collard greens.
We split the two sweet potatoes so we could each have variety. The lighter one is the Japanese sweet potato, which we’ve had before, and the other one is a purple sweet potato. Vince said he liked the purple one best – said it was so smooth and tasted a bit earthy. I think I don’t have very sophisticated taste buds because they both tasted pretty much the same to me.
Sam’s Club steaks are about the best we can get in our area. We each ended up eating only half our steaks so we have leftovers! Yay.
It was a great meal and not much trouble – steaks cooked on the grill outside; potatoes baked in the oven and leftovers heated in a pot on top of the stove. Not much mess to clean up.
This is a wine we found at Sam’s. The wine is aged in bourbon barrels. I’m not a fan of wine and if I’m going to drink wine, it needs to be sweet. I always said if I could find a wine that tastes like Dr. Pepper, I’d like it.
A Cabernet wine is never going to be a favorite of mine but Vince gave me a taste of his and I really did like it so I had a glass too or maybe that was two glasses. 🙂
It was a good meal, good wine, and good company!

Looks delicious! I am the same way about wine except for a sweet moscato which I love. We found a mango moscato at Costco the other day and it is delicious!

Menage A Trois also has a bourbon barrel aged Cabernet so Vince might be on the lookout for that one, too. Glad you liked it as well! Cheers!!!

I don’t think I’d buy anything with that brand name! 🙁

Purple sweet potatoes were supposed to be perfectly suited to our part of NC. The farmers grew tons of them and then the deals for purchasing fell through and tons were trashed. That was the last I heard/saw of the purple ones.

I haven’t ever tried anything but regular sweet potatoes, but I sure do love those!
