When I served dinner, Vince said “Are you celebrating being home?” I said “Yes, and the fact that at midnight, my time with the “Affordable Health Care” is over! June 1 – Medicare begins. No more $1,000+/month insurance premiums for coverage that stops when I leave Texas and a $7,500 deductible.
That’s reason to celebrate, don’t you think? I never thought I’d be so thrilled to be 65 but that horrible insurance made me welcome 65 and Medicare.
I’m back on keto. I was horrible while I was gone. I don’t know if I mentioned it but I got sick again and had to go to the doctor again in Missouri. I don’t sleep good there. The bed is horrible. Addie sleeps with me. The dog sleeps on the floor by the bed or at the foot of the bed and every time he wiggles, the tags on his collar jingle. I’m not used to noise and Chad lives right on a fairly busy street so there are noises all night. I don’t think his air conditioner is working great and the house seemed humid all the time. Maybe I’m just not used to humidity. Anyway, I ended up feeling really bad, back on meds, coughing my head off and just didn’t feel much like dieting so whatever I cooked for them, I ate too – including cake. A couple of nights we had fried chicken. One night we went to an Italian restaurant and not only did I have pasta but we had cannoli for dessert.
This morning, I held my breath and got on the scales. I had only gained two pounds. Again, feeling bad helped some but I’m back on the diet.
Vince made a salad and I cooked some shrimp.
Aldi had this interesting looking spicy thai dressing on sale so we put that on the salad and it was good.
While going through the freezer, I came across one last package of lobster so we had lobster and sauteed okra. It was a good meal, and nice to be back on the diet.

Congratulations on turning 65!! About that humidity in Chad’s a/c…have him find the drip tube that goes outside, then pour a cup of half water and half bleach down the tube. It may be clogged up and getting ready to overflow and cause water damage inside the house!
Yes, sadly, personal experience speaking here. At least he should have his a/c checked over by a reputable company. A maintenance call is much cheaper than $3,000 for water removal, fans, mold abatement spray, and new carpet.
So sorry you got sick while you were there. I haven’t heard of Grannies sleeping with a grandchild before. Glad you are home safe!

A lot of people have the overflow just in a tub and once that tub gets full, there’s going to be leakage into the house. When we buy a house, if it’s set up like that, we always have it changed. In our current house, we had them install a pipe through the attic and down the side of the house so when we see water coming out that line, we know the drip line is clogged. We’ve had it happen once here and were so thankful it didn’t damage anything in the house.
Chad’s line is also outside. Actually, he has some weird unit and they even change their filter outside.

Happy June ?? birthday!
For those who haven’t moved to Medicare, coverage start the first day of the birth month, not on your birthday. But, wht the heck, if that dinner is how you are going to celebrate your birthday, have plenty of them all month. It looked wonderful, though I would leave off the okra for me.

Happy Birthday! Medicare is definitely cheaper than that awful insurance you’ve had even with what they take out of the check for Part B, your additonal supplement insurance and Part D. I was happy when I turned 65 and could get Medicare too.

Happy Birthday! I’ll be 66 in January so if all goes well with a few things I will be retiring. Enjoy!

I have a June birthday too! It will be a few years before I’m on Medicare though.

I love people born in June. =) HBD on the actual day and happy Medicare day today, because it’s officially June 1 here, and ten minutes from it in Texas! 2 pounds, not bad.
Nelle Coursey says
WOW only 2 pounds!! That is great but you have to stop being sick when you go there! That is no fun!!

I celebrated last year going on Medicare- it is certainly better and less expensive than “affordable care “!!!!
