You all remember that I had a dachshund named Speck. We got him when Chad was maybe 10 or 11 years old. Speck died in 2017 and he was about 16 years old. Then when their Husky showed up at Walmart and Chad brought him home for the weekend because Animal Control wasn’t open til Monday, and Addie fell in love with him and named him Speck. Recently, she said “Isn’t it funny that you had a dog named Speck and I have a dog named Speck?” Not really! 🙂
The other day Chad and I were going to pick Addie up at school. Chad’s phone rang and I could tell it was kind of a weird call. The man asked him if he had a dog named Speck. I told Chad he should have said “Everyone in my family has a dog named Speck!” 🙂
This guy had found Speck’s tag that had Chad’s name and phone number on it in his driveway. I guess with all the rain, it had washed up there somehow. He was completely across town and Chad was kinda baffled as to how he got Speck’s tag but then Chad put it all together.
When Chad and Nicole first moved back here probably three years ago, they rented a house clear on the other side of town. One night Speck got out . . he’s a runner, and Chad caught up with him over near where this man lives. Speck had lost is tag during his escapades and this older gentleman had found it and called Chad.
We ran by and got it. Now his id tag is back on him. If he gets away again, and he will, hopefully it will help get him back home.

My son and daughter in law have a sled dog that is part husky and she is the same, a runner. Not funny when my grand dog ran away when they were in Hawaii. I called the police and told them NOT to call the number on her tag if they found her. Luckily I found her, dang runner.

Can you ever get a dog to not run once they start it?

Why don’t y’all have him chipped as well? That’s sweet that the man called y’all! I’m glad Chad figured it out. Addie is a hoot!!!
