Today our town lost a very dear man. He’s been a Brownwood resident forever . . probably almost all his life. I know he and his wife lived other places during their younger years but, for the most part, Brownwood has been their home for their entire lives.
Bob’s family had the main grocery store chain in our area way before we ever thought about moving there . . way, way before. When we moved to Brownwood, he was the Constable.
They are our neighbors. Remember that in our area, you cannot see your neighbor’s home and you have to get in the car and drive to go visit. These are the neighbors whose home burned about three years ago. Bless their hearts . . they just got it rebuilt and moved back in right before Christmas so they didn’t get much time together in the new home.
These are people who would share anything they had with someone in need; they would do anything for anyone.
I’ve never heard anyone say a bad thing about Bob or his wife, Ann. They are the kind of people I strive to be like, the kind of people I wish to surround myself with.
Bob passed away this morning after a serious illness. Things he said, stories he told, things he did . . even though I only knew them about 8 years, I will never forget him and will always be happy that I knew him. He will be missed by those of us who knew him briefly and by those who knew him forever, but especially, by his wonderful family.

You are so right about Bob being missed. He came from a great family. His dad was a wonderful man and so was his uncle. Uncle J.R. was a little crusty but deep down he was a good man. That is why when he died and then when Bob’s dad died, they started the foundation. They have done more for people around here than anyone will ever know. It seemed like no one ever wanted to quit once they started working for them. The whole family was very caring and giving. Bob and Ann more so than the others. I have known them for a long, long time and he will be greatly missed. He gave tirelessly to the constable’s office, making $1 per year and outfitting his car, himself and anything else that needed to be done. He took nothing from the County. Not many people can say that. God’s speed Bob and “may light perpetual shine upon you.”

I am so sorry. Praying for comfort for Bob’s family and friends, especially you and Vince.
