We had our whirlwind trip to Arkansas this weekend. I totally forgot how bad it is traveling with Chad. He wants to stop EVERYWHERE! The trip home today should have been less than 4 hours. He was driving. We left Mountain Home, Arkansas at 9:30 this morning. Even stopping for gas and lunch, we should have been home by 2:30 p.m. We got home at 6 p.m.
When we left this morning, he said “Mom, I think I’ll go through Branson instead of Ava. The road won’t be so winding.” I wasn’t thinking and said yes. Antique shops! We must have stopped at 5 or 6 of them. Addie and I would stay in the car and knit or read or play games, while Chad and Nicole shopped. They needed some alone time without Addie but goodness – that was a LONG trip home.
Our cabin was nice – nothing fancy but adequate and super clean. It had a new gas stove and a nice fridge. Even though it had only one bathroom, it had an instant water heater so Chad was able to take his LONG showers and we all still had hot water. The people who own and run the resort were so nice and accommodating. This morning as we were loading up to leave, Debbie, the resort owner, asked me about our house hunting and I told her we hadn’t had much luck. She asked if I had a few minutes and I told her yes. We hopped it her RTV and took off . . all ever the area. She showed me a couple of houses (from the outside) that might be coming up for sale. She showed me one some people had built and weren’t going to move in and were going to sell it. So, we have a few leads on houses we may be interested in seeing.
I’m hoping that within a couple of weeks, Vince and I can make a trip to Arkansas and spend more time and put more effort into finding a place.
I will do at least one more post about our house hunting trip, which was really a bust.

My folks retired to Mountain Home years ago! I visited them once, it seemed like a nice place, very geared toward senior living. Lots of churches and everyone had a pontoon boat… they both passed on but I remember the weather as hot in the summer. Good luck with your search!

Gosh, that was accommodating of your hostess! She must have liked you to be willing to help you become a neighbor. =) I hope something turns up that Vince and you can agree on, if you are ready for the move.
