This morning we meet the realtor and look at a couple of houses Vince and I had wanted to see. It will be weird because I will be looking at these houses with Chad, Nicole and Addie instead of Vince. Now I will know how he felt looking at all the houses in Texas without me.
The plan is that Vince will come back and look at any houses I think are serious possibilities.
There’s already one that I’m totally in love with from seeing the pictures. And these are all pictures I took of the pictures on the website.
Six burner commercial type gas stove. Need I say more?
We would be right in tornado alley so there’s a safe room.
And a nice, big shop for Vince. My sewing room would be in the walk out basement so Vince gets the whole shop this time. I think it’s 30 x 50 — a bit smaller than the current shop but with him having all of it, he’d actually have more room.
The second house I could live with, and be ok. I think Vince may like it better. It has less land but the shop is heated and cooled and just off the house. I believe he would get more use out of it but it is a much smaller shop.
This is a drawback for me. The realtor is supposed to be checking to see if it’s possible to get a gas line to the stove and we would swap it out for gas. Also, the microwave has to go. I do not want it above the stove, which means we’d get a stove vent that blows back into the house, which I don’t like. I want a real “vented to the outside” type vent but that would not be easy to do.
The feature of this house that makes me say “maybe” is this:
It’s a wonderful outdoor kitchen. I could set up in here for most of the canning I might do but still, I want a gas stove in the kitchen. If it ends up that Vince likes this one better and if a gas line could be added to the kitchen, I’ll be ok with this house.
The realtor has a couple more for us to see but unless there’s something that isn’t showing up in the pictures, these are the two at the top of our list.
There was a third house we loved. In fact, it was both our favorites. The view is great . . from the inside and outside but the road getting to the house was a deal breaker so we ruled that one out.
Today will be an exciting day . . at least for me. Nicole will probably love it. Chad will be bored and all Addie will want to do is get back to the cabin so they can go fishing or swimming. I tried to talk Chad and Addie into staying at the cabin but they wanted to come along. My guess is . . after the first house, they’ll wish they were back at the cabin.

I’m getting excited for you, some great looking places already, best of luck with decision!

Can’t you and Nicole ride with the realtor and Chad and Addie take the car so they can leave to go fishing if they get bored. I guess it depends on how far from the cabin you are meeting the realtor who may or may not want to return you to the cabin. Have a fun day

I hope you are near a weather radio since NW Arkansas has a tornado warning up right now. I would go for the first house with the safe room and gas oven!

Love that first home. Just curious why you don’t like over the stove microwaves? I don’t have one but wonder about it. Good luck house hunting and have fun.

I hope it was a great day and you found something that you can both agree on.

We bought a house with gas to the house but not the kitchen, got it run, not very expensive when you figure the savings on electric and the fact it is very important to us. We just put in a new stove to replace our back/vent outside Jennaire. I wasn’t sure how it would work to replace it with a non vent stove and overhead microwave and recirculating vent fan. I was really motivated to try it to free up counter space and preserve my view. I love it!!! The new fan is more powerful than the outside!!! No smell & smoke alarm hasn’t gone off once in two months. The microwave is a little high for me but everything is and you don’t use it a lot anyhow. Don’t let this keep you from your dream house. I had my previous setup for 16 years before we took the plunge! Love my house and should have done it sooner. Good luck!

Check on that MW. Ours was put in and hooked up to the outdoor vent. Good luck with the home search.

I have never wanted a microwave over the stove because in my mind it would catch way too much grease and grime and would be constant clean up. And I do not care for the ones down in the side of an island. Wayyyyyy too low for this old back and children would have easy access. Can hardly wait for more info on your house of choice.
