Chad took the big logs up to the sawmill yesterday and was able to wait while it was cut.
He’s having so much fun with all the trees and wood.
He said the logs were 2,500 pounds each. They loaded them onto the trailer with a tractor and the guy at the sawmill has a giant truck with some kind of jaws/grabber on it and it picks up the logs, lifts them about 30′ into the air and onto the sawmill.
The logs are then banded into a big bundle and a forklift puts them on the trailer. But, when they got home, Chad and Nicole had to take the boards out individually, put stickers/spacers between them and stack them in the shop. They were both exhausted by the time they came in. I think Chad doesn’t want to see a tree for the next few days.

That IS a lot of lumber. So good that the sawmill will do that for him.

Oh my, nice thick boards. I am wondering how long it will be until Chad opens his own furniture and such business. Even if he just made small stuff he would be a hit. I would buy some of his creations. So nice to see a young man interested is making what he needs, instead of buying cheap flimsy items that won’t last. Way to go Chad!

Judy – I really shouldn’t feed your son’s lumber addiction, but there is a young man in I think Minnesota, his name is Matthew Cremona. He also is a urban lumberjack. He built a sawmill in his backyard. He has the neatest trailer that he uses for hauling logs (even around his property) it’s got a winch and a “arch” thing that helps pull the logs on the trailer. Your son will really like his YouTube channel. Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself. 😉 Have a GREAT time with your kids and granddaughter! Kara
