Saturday night it was late when we went to sleep. I can never go to sleep easily on the night before a trip. The clock was set for 4:30 a.m. Rita woke up about 2 a.m. to go out but Vince got up with her. I contemplated getting up and leaving but knew I needed more than two hours of sleep so I went back to sleep and slept til the alarm woke me up, got up, took a quick shower, washed my hair, got dressed and was out on the road by 5:15 a.m. I was excited to be heading to see Addie but poor Vince . . he was probably exhausted.
It was a long time before the sun came up. There was some road construction where they have one lane closed and a traffic signal to stop one lane.
There were no other cars in sight but I sat there til my light was green . . like a law abiding citizen!
By the time I had been on the road a little over an hour, the fog rolled in. If it had been that bad at home, I would not have left til the sun was up. I actually could not see the front of my car in some spots. Thank goodness there wasn’t any traffic and no wild and crazy deer on the road. I drove 2-1/2 hours before anyone ever came up behind me.
The picture above is in Breckenridge, TX. I hope you can see the brick streets.
I told Nicole it all reminded me of a scene from Walking Dead . . though I’ve never seen any of it.
It was nice to arrive, nice to get to see Addie, Chad and Nicole, nice to be out of the car.

So glad you made it safely. Those bricks came from Thurber. It is a ghost town now, but back in the heyday there were about 1500 or more people there who worked at the brick plant.
