There could be a camping trip in my future. There may be a tent involved. I truly thought my tent camping days were over but . . apparently not because that little girl in MO wants to go camping and she wants Granny to go and as you’ve probably figured out, I will do anything, within reason, that she wants to do. The debate right now is . . what is the definition of “within reason”?
When we found the house that we’re interested in, Vince and I decided that while I’m in MO, I can go look at it. I talked to Chad to see if he would go with me. It’s about 4 hours from his house. He said yes. Then I said . . maybe we can go on a weekend and Addie and Nicole can go too. Yes, he thought that was good. Then, I thought . . by the time we drive 4 hours each way, eat, see the house, it’s going to be 10 or 11 hours and that’s a lot of time in the car for one day. I discussed it with Vince and since he’s pretty sure that’s the area he wants to live, I said “I think I’m not going to go with Chad. When I get back, you and I can go.” Vince said that was fine.
I called Chad yesterday morning and was telling him I didn’t think we would do it. He said “Oh, you now how much we like to camp in that area. I think we’ll take the tent, maybe leave Friday afternoon, and stay til Sunday.”
I said “Chad! I can’t get up off the sofa. How am I going to get up off the ground?”
Then he explained how much Addie loves camping, which I knew she does, and how happy she was that Granny might go camping with them so . . I think I may be fixing to go camping, unless the weather is bad, and you know how spring weather can be in that part of the country.
I was telling Vince and he said “That sounds like fun! Maybe I’ll buy a tent and go too!” Hmmm . . I’m not sure about that. We had a big tent but it was in Chad’s car when it burned. Besides, by now, it would be about 25 years old. I’m not sure tents last forever.
Of course, I’ll let you know what ends up happening.

My idea of camping is a Motel 6. Call me high maintenance but I need indoor “facilities” that I don’t share with skunks and bears.

Nothing against Motel 6 . . don’t think I’ve ever stayed in one but I’m thinking I might rather share the facilities with bears and skunks! 🙂

Walmart has double high air mattresses. ( Take a lawn chair into the tent!) As well as car mattresses that fit behind the front seat.
Judy Laquidara says
Chad said he has a really tall air mattress. I’m sure we’ll take my Highlander so Addie and I may fold the back seats down and put our air mattress back there and sleep in the car!

They make pretty comfortable cots now that are up off the ground. And those inflatable matresses that regular sheets fit are very comfortable except for the getting up part. See if the campground in question has nice bathrooms with showers. That can make a ton of difference. All this from a women that hasn’t camped in 20 years!!
Rita E in AZ says
This is so much more comfortable for camping, but get 2 because Addie will love it too and you don’t want to let her use yours without a backup

Good luck

I’ll be fine with a sleeping bag and air mattress. I want her memories to be with Granny doing everything the way they do it and not with Granny doing everything her own way. Plus, this is probably a one time thing for me so I’m not spending that much $$. They camp a lot with air mattresses and sleeping bags . . they’re young. 🙂

Key word! Young!! Oh, the tent camping we did then; but those days are long over! Yes, you are a bit younger than I but the knees in cool damp morning and evening air may be more than you enjoy dealing with even for the little girl. I am trying to be light about it because I have no doubt it will happen!!! LOL
Judy Laquidara says
Chad and Nicole camp in this area often so they have their favorite spots. One is where we took Chad often when he was young. This time of year though, we’ll probably have to take what we can get. His favorite spots don’t take reservations so it’s first come, first served.

If Vince decided to go too, would be a fantastic camping trip full of memories for Addie, she is the right age to remember it all. Whatever way you go, have fun and make memories.

Get an air mattress and you can roll off onto your knees and then get up. LOL It is getting creative to get up off the floor these days, and it annoys me that it takes so much planning. LOL
Pat says
Go for it. Grandkids are only young once.
Karen Sutton says
Hmmmmm, you know you can rent an RV:)
