Spring is about the only time of year that we get rain in this area but this is the wettest spring we’ve had in the eight years we’ve been here. I’m not complaining but some areas of Texas are seeing serious flooding. It does seem to be feast or famine. In April, we had 4.82″ of rain when we left on the 25th and there was more rain after that. So far in May, we’ve had almost 2.75″.
The lake is full and that’s a very good position to be in this time of year. The local water supply comes from the lake and going into summer with a full lake is promising.
The green line on the chart above was 2018 and by June, the area was already at Stage 1 water restrictions.
Seeing everything so green and puddles . . I love it!
It’s funny that Rita and Cat neither want to get anywhere near the rain but the chickens love it. And, the humans love it but it makes me sad that some are or will experience flooding from all the recent rains.

We had 12” in 11 hours. It came up to our back patio which has never happened in the 28 years we have lived here.

The lake level is especially encouraging for the summer. It is so pretty to see the green. It would be nice if it came in more measured amounts, but we get what we get. We’re getting above average accumulations here again this year.

We got another 3″ this morning!!
Judy Laquidara says
We’ve only had 2.75″ since May 1 at our house.
