It seems that every time I go out of town and don’t have extra yarn with me, that’s when Eat, Sleep, Knit announces a Flash Knit Along. You never know what they have up their sleeve. It could be any weight, multiple skeins of the same color or several different colors. I had planned to bring a variety of different yarns but ended up with one skein of fingering weight, which I wound into a cake before leaving home.
Sure enough, on April 30, they announced a Flash KAL that would begin on May 3 and run through May 24. There is a knitted pattern and a crochet pattern that can be used. The knitting pattern is Ludisia and it calls for three colors of fingering weight.
It’s an easy pattern but considering I was in MO when they made the announcement, then a few days in Louisiana, then I’ll be back home in a couple of days, for a few days and then go back to MO, so long as I can find a day without storms for driving, and then . . another day on the road to get back home. So, my knitting time is going to be a bit limited since there will be things at home that I have to do.
Anyway, the yarn I’m using is Madelinetosh Twist Light. The color is Deep Water and this will be my darkest color. No idea what the other two colors will be but I’ll figure that out when I get home.
I do like the pattern. It’s a bit of a wrap, could be used as a shawl. Finishing the project by the 24th will earn me 500 yards and 1 start for the Yarnathon so it’s worth it! Besides, I love a challenge.
I think I have to knit about 25+ inches in this first color so I doubt I even get it finished before I get home.

Hi Judy, is there a link to the crochet pattern. I do more crochet than knitting and I’d love to see what it is but I can’t find where it is.

It’s the Midnight Walk Shawl on Ravelry

Thank you!

I’m doing the knit version too but in DK yarn and size 9 needles so it’s moving along much more quickly than the lace weight/tiny needle shawl I had been working on, so it’s a nice change.
