Besides Vince having more energy, and getting things done around the house and feeling good .. he’s decided to get more involved in the kitchen. I’m not sure how I feel about that yet.
Over the weekend, he was reading about fermenting foods and how it changes the sugars and carbs and I’m not sure if fermenting beans will mean we can eat them or not but he wanted to try a few things. He wanted to start with garbanzo beans so I soaked one pound of dry beans overnight, then cooked them . . and turned the rest over to Vince.
Left is basically hummus that will ferment three days. The other two are cooked garbanzo beans, the one on the right has dill but otherwise they’re both the same. They will ferment for about 10 days.
The two on the left I’m not real sure about. The jar on the right is my regular milk kefir. The one in the middle is a jar of almond milk that Vince is trying to turn into kefir. Vince also read that you could use milk kefir grains to make water kefir. I’m not real sure about that but this isn’t my experiment.
I think his almond milk kefir is ready . . whatever that means. I have no idea about the schedule for the water kefir.
It’s fun seeing Vince interested in kitchen things.

I’ve been busy also fermenting foods….Kefir, Veggies, salads, garlic and much more. I need to purchase more bacto to start over more. My kombucha hotels are doing great. Hopefully after back surgery I will be able to stand longer si I can make more.

I wish I could interest Mike in the kitchen–such as actually cooking a meal!!!

Best thing I ever did was let hubs experiment in the kitchen with everything including canning. He now knows how much time and effort it takes to make things including canning, freezing etc …

I’ll be interested in seeing how these turn out as I move forward in my catch up. – Do NOT reply to all these comments. =)
