Vince needed to pick up something in town this morning so I rode to town with him. We went by United Grocery and they always have a cart or two of sale merchandise so Vince headed over there and found this tea.
I’ve never been much of a tea fan but since giving up Dr. Pepper, I’ve been drinking hot tea, with a bit of sweetener and cream and I’ve enjoyed it.
These little holiday tins of tea were $14.98, marked down to 99 cents each. We got 9 of the “Naughty or Anise” and 4 of the “Sexy Hot Christmas Tea”. We came home and made the Naughty or Anise and it was seriously good. I immediately went to their website and ordered more. The Naughty or Anise is here. BEWARE: It says it has nuts in it so anyone with nut allergies might want to avoid it.
Considering that the Anise tea is about $38 for 16 oz. and the Christmas tea is about $48 for a 16 oz bag, we got a heck of a deal getting 6 oz. of tea and a tin for 99 cents.

WOW what a deal! Way to go Vince! I’m going to go check their website as I’ve never seen this tea before. Love the tin it comes in!

Can you use the tins for something else? If you can’t remove the label, can you spray paint the can and be able to use the tin for something, like storing dried herbs or seasoning mixes. The seal has to be good since it was for teas. These might even be good for seed storage.

Of course I can use the tins. That’s the main reason I wanted them before tasting the tea. I won’t even waste time painting them and yes, the label can be removed. Now I have all my double point knitting needles in one container. I would love to have separate containers for the sizes I use most. (1.5 mm, 2 mm, 2.25 mm and 2.5 mm)
I was thinking I could get a wooden tray and place it on the top of the new chest and keep several tins up there – the ones for the needles, and one for the little wipes I use to clean my glasses. I’m always having to walk into the bathroom and get those after I cook because my glasses seem to get splattered with water or grease when I’m cooking.
I keep my herbs vacuum sealed in jars so I doubt I would use these for those since I re-seal them after using them. Also, they’d take up too much room for seeds. I have a ton of seeds and keep those in zipper bags and they do fine.
I’m sure I’ll come up with more uses than I have tins before it’s over.

Sounds really good!

Looks like the bottle it came in is reusable as well. Hope it is, that way you get more for your money and you can use those to either gift things in or use for storage yourself.

hmm – I wonder if using those tins would scent your homemade handcream at all.
Judy Laquidara says
They wouldn’t work for hand cream. They’re too tall and skinny and they’re metal. I’m sure I will find more uses for them than I have tins.

That was a great deal, especially since you like at least one of them.
