Whew! That was a long trip to town. We didn’t go yesterday as planned so it had been nine days since we left the house. I was thrilled but we had a lot of stops!
- Family Dollar – That’s where I get the ingredients to make the hand cream. I’m hoping their brand of baby lotion is more like J&J’s original formula. So I got the Vitamin E cream, their brand of Vaseline, and baby lotion . . enough to make three batches of lotion.
- Pharmacy – A friend works there and she’s doing something for me so I wanted to drop off a check. I’ll write more about that later.
- Texas State Optical – One thing I’m going to miss about Vince working is a new pair of eye glassses every year. I’m so hard on glasses. The other day I stepped on my glasses. I was lucky they didn’t break but they were a bit messed up so I went by TSO. They put new nosepads on them and adjusted them.
- Hobby Lobby – Vince’s idea. I needed a hole puncher . . $2.50. That was all I needed but I did find something else I wanted . . Will write about it in another paragraph.
- Walmart – Groceries.
- Aldi – More groceries. Avocados are 39 cents at Aldi vs. 88 cents and cucumbers were 39 cents vs. 79 cents at Walmart.
At Hobby Lobby, since I didn’t need much so I was wandering around. I found this piece and I love it. It isn’t well made but . . it was $99. It’s just so cute. It would sit right by my chair and I could put stitch markers in a drawer, scissors in a drawer, tape measures in a drawer, nail clippers/files in a drawer, ink pens and little notepads in a drawer. I could fill those 20 drawers in no time.
Of course, my woodworking husband thought it wasn’t built well . . and it isn’t! It’s $99 in the store. He can make one! Yes, I could make lots of things but I don’t . . and he won’t. I told him . . every drawer is a different color paint. By the time you bought 20 colors of paint and hardware, you will have spent $99. Nope . . somewhere, somehow, he’ll find one built better for less.
We’re home! Groceries are put away. I’m knitting the rest of the day . . I hope!

I like Hobby Lobby so don’t get me wrong with my pet peeve. They jack that price up and then say it’s 30% or 40% off. Their so called sale price is more inline with what the regular price “should” be. Yet, lots of people fall for the idea of getting 30% to 40% off just because they are getting a bargain. I’m tired of making the rich richer! I live more by the rule Use it Up, Wear it Out , Make Do and Do Without. I see no need in spending just to be spending. Less is more!

Probably sometimes but often I find their prices very good. The cabinet I wanted . . we came home and looked for other similar cabinets online and even that exact cabinet was quite a bit more than Hobby Lobby’s regular suggested retail price. Their yarn is already a great price so when it’s on sale, it’s really a good price. We don’t have a lot of options so I’m very happy to be able to walk through Hobby Lobby and see things I didn’t even know I needed! 🙂
I’m not sure it spending just to be spending but when I can buy something pretty for my home . . something I need and will use, I’m going to do it.

Almost anything attractive to hide so many of those little things we need one of everywhere! I understand and I’m with you but that’s the kind of thing my husband might say to me, ‘ had a dollar burning a hole, did you?’ Men! I love Hobby Lobby!

That is a very handy chest, I think. I hope Vince will find something like it for you.

I’m sorry, but it makes me mad that avocados cost so much less than here, next to the “Avocado Capital of the World.” *pout* And the cabinet at Hobby Lobby is $139.99. No wonder everybody is leaving the state.
p.s. In addition to the paint colors, it looks like every drawer has a different pull/handle. More $$

Love the little cabinet too. Is there a J C. Penny close to you? They have great sales on glasses all the time. I get noline bifocal for 2 for 99 dollars all the time. I generally get 2 pair a year if need them or not. Get transsion on one pair sometimes too. I’m hard on glasses my self due to I hate wearing them. Can see up close without and really don’t need except to drie. So they are on top of my head most of the time. Check it out sometime.

No JC Penney here.
