In the Never Enough Lace group, they’re doing a Advent Stole as a knit along. I’m not doing that project but Lichtfaden, a German dyer whose yarn I love, dyed several special colors for the project. The yarn is a fingering weight yarn, 50% silk/50% wool. There are 415 yards per skein. When I saw the Roses for Christmas colorway, I especially loved it. The silk/wool fingering weight would be wonderful in a big shawl, maybe with pink beads.
You can see how gorgeous this is with the silk content but it feels great! I’m anxious to use this yarn.
This one is Miss Babs’ Dulcinea and I bought it during her sale a week or so ago. It’s classified as a heavy lace yarn, 800 yards/120 grams. The content is 70% wool, 15% cashmere and 15% cultivated silk. It feels pretty good too!
The spot in the middle is the sun and I didn’t notice it til after dark so I couldn’t go out and get another picture. I’ve never used this yarn but I think it will make a fine shawl .. probably also with beads.
There’s no shortage of gorgeous shawl patterns in my library so all I need to do is finish up a few UFOs and I’ll be ready to start a new shawl!

Hi Judy, question,, what do you do with all these beautiful creations you make with all this lovely yarn you buy??? Do you gift them or maybe sell them??? Just wondering….Dot in Pa…

Quite a few of them are given away. I do wear a lot of shawls. Here, a shawl is about all you need during the winter except for a few cold days. Even in the summer, I carry shawls with me because restaurants, offices, etc. are often very cold with the a/c running. My knitting is a lot like my quilting – I make way more than I need but it’s my hobby and keeps me sane and for that reason, the non-stop knitting is good for me.

Love that pink yarn! We were gone and out of touch when you posted that change in October’s UFO, so for most of the month I thought I was all caught up, only to learn a couple of days ago that I was really far behind. So I ended up frogging one item and the other will never get done by Wednesday evening. But I sure accomplished a lot of other stuff. By now you are probably laughing, right? Hey, it’s almost November! (I hope you do this again next year as it motivates me, and sometimes even makes me laugh!)

How odd! It said I already left a comment? Did I?

The colors on both are wonderful. I can see a shawl in either one, or both.

When I saw the beautiful pale pink yarn I thought of a light gray edging, maybe because it seemed like there was a shadow at the edge of each skein. It is such a beautiful color.

Both of those are really pretty! My favorite color is purple and I love Miss Bab’s…so that’s just a wonderful combination! 🙂
