When I got in yesterday, Vince wanted to know if I needed to go to town. OK . . I’ve been on the road for the better part of two days but yes, let’s go to town! Really, I told him “I have on makeup and my hair is combed. If you need anything from town, today is the day to go because I’m not leaving the house tomorrow.”
We went to the grocery store to get a few things. I am wanting to make chili so I grabbed the stuff to make that.
They did have Honey Crisp apples for $1.47 per pound. That’s an amazing price for those. I usually won’t buy them because they’re often over $3/pound. I’m not even sure if it matters which apples are freeze dried. I doubt once they’re freeze dried I’ll even be able to tell that they were so crunchy when fresh.
This morning I’ve been peeling and cutting apples for the freeze dryer. Can’t wait to try these!

Whoa! That IS a good price for honey crisp. I got gala for 98 cents/lb yesterday and thought that was good.

I have honey crisps rotting on the tree, as we had such a bumper crop and we cannot eat them all. All the neighbors are sick of me asking if they want any, my shelves are full of apple sauce and I do not like them dried. I would ship a box down to you, if shipping wasn’t so expensive.

That seems to be the way with so many things. My dad can never give away all the oranges and lemons he grows. Here . . I can’t even grow zucchini.

Sounds good. Love the banana chips!

Oh, I bet these are realy good freeze dried, even if you can’t tell they were crunchy to start. I wish I lived near Tee! My good canning buddy and I would take all her unwanted apples!

I don’t like any apples but Honey Crisp they are the best in my book. They are like eating sugar. Can’t wait to hear how they taste dried. I can see my mother now making mini fried apple pies out of dried apples. Oh the memories.
