My friend who lives not too far from Chad has a sister who lives not too far from me. We were talking and came up with an amazing plan — she would drive to visit her sister the same day I was going home; we would spend the night together in a hotel and we would knit half the night.
This is really weird . . remember the last time I went to MO, my tire pressure light came on? We were driving across Oklahoma, she called me and said “My tire pressure light is on!” We stopped at a Walmart, had the guy check her tires. They were all just perfect. That’s exactly what my car did to me.
I knew I needed to get my oil changed soon. This is the first time, in probably 11-1/2 years of having that car, that the mileage occurred before the date (you know . . so many miles or so many months) so almost at the exact same time as I crossed into Oklahoma from Missouri, the “maintenance required” light popped on. I was thinking . . just one trip without some kind of warning light and then my friend called and said her tire pressure light was on.
Saturday morning we met, drove to western Oklahoma, spent the night, and finished the trip today. We stayed up late talking and knitting . . just as we had planned. We slept fairly late, got dressed, decided we’d have breakfast at Cracker Barrel instead of in the hotel. By the time we shopped at Cracker Barrel after finishing a yummy breakfast, we got on the road. I laughed because I got home after 3 p.m. I can leave Chad’s early and drive straight through and get home not much later than that.
The traffic through Oklahoma City and Tulsa wasn’t horrible Saturday. She and I managed to make it all the way through both cities without getting separated in the traffic. It was fun having her with me, and made my first night away from Addie much better than it would have been if I had stayed in the hotel alone.

The tire pressure light is more than likely because of the change in outside temperature. That’s what my husband and my dealership has always said. You might need to have your tires checked to make sure.

You might also check the pressure in your spare tire. My daughter’s tire pressure light kept coming on and they finally checked the spare in the trunk and it was low.

Judy, being from Australia what is on the plates for breakfast?
Liz says
Debi – I can answer that question. FYI, Cracker Barrel is a restaurant chain with stores usually by a highway. So, travelers know the style of food. Usually the portions are very generous and you don’t have to eat for a lot of miles!
Right plate – two eggs, over easy, has brown potatoes in patty form, couple strips of bacon and a pork sausage patty. Left plate – looks like a small bowl of grits, two biscuits and the other bowl looks like white gravy. Some gravies have lots of pepper (the little black flakes) and some have sausage bits. Lots of people will split open the biscuits and pour the gravy over them.

Here I was thinking the potatoes were that cheesy hashbrown casserole I sometimes order for both my vegetables! LOL

What fun to have a travel buddy! Made it easier for both of you!

That sounds like a wonderful plan! I like it. And the night knitting and chatting late sounds just perfect. I wonder what it is about Oklahoma air that makes the light come on!

Hash brown potatoes
Cracker Barrel is a family favorite. We eat there whenever traveling back to The South to visit family. The restaurants also have gift shops that sell “old-fashioned” toys and candies, hand-crafted items… and rent audiobooks to be dropped off at any other Cracker Barrel within a week or two for a partial refund. They have rocking chairs and checker boards out on the long (wide) front porch so that people can “sit a spell” and visit (talk). It is all so quintessentially Southern.
