My parents always told me “you’d lose your head if it wasn’t attached!” and that is so true.
Before I left home, Vince said “Take both sets of keys. You know how you are!” So I brought both sets of keys. Nicole is so organized. I must drive her nuts! She has a place to hang keys in the kitchen. She will check every time she walks by to make sure there are two sets of my keys hanging on the rack.
This afternoon we went to get burgers and we came home and Nicole said “Why is there just one set of your keys on the rack?” I have only had one set all day. She said “Did you have two sets when you went to Walmart?” No . . I noticed when I started to go to Walmart that there was just one set of keys.
We began searching. I looked in my purse. Then she said “Do you mind if I look in your purse?” She went through everything in my purse. No keys. Then she said “Do you mind if I look through your car?” Don’t mind at all. She took a bag out and cleaned out all the empty water bottles and receipts. No keys but guess what she found! Another iPod. Who knew there was another iPod. Please, Vince, don’t be reading this! I can’t wait to see which songs are on this one. This will definitely make my trip home more interesting.
We searched every part of this house. Under the sofa and chair where I was sitting. Under the cushions. In all the kitchen drawers. In all my project bags. I even went through all the things I had packed and put in my car already. In the garage. Maybe I went out there and set them down somewhere. Finally, I told Nicole to forget it and I would call the grocery store and Walmart in the morning to see if they had found the keys. My thinking was that I had one set of keys in my purse, took the set I was using in with me, set them down somewhere, and then found the set in my purse and didn’t realize I had lost a set.
I was rather dreading telling Vince because replacement keys and locking remote things are not inexpensive and he already gets so mad at me for losing my keys so often.
When Nicole went to put Addie to bed, she said . . guess what I found!! Keys! Sitting under a pair of my jeans on the bed.
Here’s my thinking . . my suitcase was in the bedroom. I probably had the keys, went in to get the suitcase to put in my car because I had everything out of it and in my overnight bag that I’ll take into the hotel. Then I decided to take out another pair of jeans, set the keys down on the bed, put the jeans on top of the keys, took the suitcase out to the car.
When she told me she found them, I said “I love you so much!” Addie started whining and said “Granny loves you more than she loves me!” No . . I love you both the same and once again I’m reminded how lucky I am to have Nicole for a daughter-in-law and she may not be so lucky to have me as a mother-in-law.
Keys are found. I promised myself again that I’ll keep up with them and be more careful where I put them.

Maybe you need to knit a long colorful strip to attach to your keys to find them more easily! I have a small caribiner on my sets of keys. When I go into a store I clip the keys onto a beltloop on my jeans so I know where to find them. When I put them in my purse I clip them on a loop inside the purse. If you get use to doing it, it becomes second nature and is easy to do. Glad you found them!

I used to set mine down in stores all the time until I got a plastic twisty wrist band. Now I lock the car door, put the band on my wrist and if I drop the keys, it doesn’t matter – they’re attached! It has cut way down on my key searching and having to get them from the Target counter or the Kroger customer service or whatever quilt store I’m in, and saved me tons of miles of driving! I’m so glad you have a great DIL. I envy you that one thing. =)

My mom always told me the same thing. Sadly, she was right. I still hear her voice every time I misplace something.

I have one of those plastic bracelets on my key ring and they go on my wrist or in my pocket- and on a hook in the house. I also have a little thingy on the key ring that will alarm is I press the master alarm that is on the hook in the house. I think you can get an alarm that will link to your phone.
