The work on the Farbmusik KAL is going great. This is the first time doing a pattern by this designer, Tiziana. This will be my first of many of her designs. I’m a bit addicted to short rows. This project starts off with a short row garter tab. That’s the first time I’ve ever done it that way and it makes for such a nice beginning. I wonder why more designers don’t use that technique.
The pattern is so easy to read and so easy to follow. I was able to do Part A while visiting with the family.
My project page is here if anyone wants to follow along.
Last night I finished Part A.
Remember . . this is a lavender/purple . . not the pink shown in the late night photo.
The frustration . . I brought ONE set of interchangeable needles . . one of my better sets. I had never used the long cable that I need to use and found it has a defective thread on one end and I cannot thread the needle onto it. Chad tried. He tried cleaning up the thread. Nope . . will not go. There’s a form I can print off and send in to get it replaced but Chad doesn’t have a printer. So, I have to wait til I get home to work any more on this project. I have plenty of needles at home that I can use til the new cable arrives but . . it’s frustrating. There’s no use trying to track down a printer. If I sent the cables back today, the new ones won’t arrive til after I’m gone so I’d have them sent to Texas and by the time I get there, I have plenty of needles I could use. Lesson learned: Bring more needles than you think you need!
I guess if that’s the most frustrating thing that happens over the next few weeks, I’m a lucky girl! It’s probably a blessing because I’d sit and work on this project non-stop because I love the pattern and the yarn. I for sure need to get the unicorn mittens and matching hat made before I leave.

If it were me I would go buy a printer…..they aren’t that expensive.
Judy Laquidara says
It isn’t a matter of the cost. They actually have an older printer but they didn’t use it enough to keep the ink from drying out so it’s still boxed up and in storage. If I sent the cables back today, I’d have the new ones sent to my house because they wouldn’t get to the company and then new ones arrive back here before I leave.
I have plenty of other projects.

Go to the Library for a printer. Or maybe a family member might have one.
Judy Laquidara says
I would have to have the new cables sent to Texas anyway because the cables wouldn’t get back to the manufacturer and new ones to me before I leave so waiting isn’t a big deal.

What you got done looks beautiful! It’s a start, at least, and you do have other things you could be working on … like that cowl you showed yesterday. =)

Those are a must!! Addie needs her mittens and cap! You need to see that smile when you give them to her! And there is no such thing as too many cables or needles!! Not when you have all the ones you have tied up in projects!! LOL

Is there a knit shop locally? Can’t tell you how many times I have bought new needles because the size I needed was in another project, or I got so far on a shawl I actually needed longer needle lengths. When I’m hot on a project, I like to stay with it. It’s fast, convenient and relatively cheap.

Love this color for this project. I might get mine started next month.
