In Vince’s blog post, he said he was frugal and many of you doubted that statement. I agree! He truly believes he’s frugal. Sometimes I have to bite my lip to keep from bursting out laughing. Sometimes I bite my lip and still can’t hold back the laughter.
He’s getting ready to get his mushroom growing operation started. He needs wax . . the kind like you use in making jelly. He’s searched every where to find the lowest cost for one pound of Gulf wax. He found it but he has to order it.
Here’s the shipping costs:
Up to 10 pounds, shipping is $7.99.
At 17 pounds, the shipping goes to $9.99.
At 26 pounds shipping goes to $11.99.
At 34 pounds, the shipping is $16.99.
Knowing how much wax there is when you melt one pound of it, I cannot imagine that he’ll need more than 10 pounds.
Guess how much wax he ordered. Just look at those numbers and tell me . . if you thought you needed about 10 pounds of wax and those were the shipping costs, and you were frugal (according to what normal people think), how much wax would you order?
I have to say .. he was placing his order and talking to himself and he said “ok, xx pounds .. ” and I said WHAT?? He said . . that’s the most cost effective shipping. I’m kinda wondering if he ordered a whole UPS truck full of it, what would the shipping costs be? 🙂

I am guessing 34 lbs. 🙂

34 lbs.
Rhonda L Russell says
I’ going with 26 lbs.
Dar in NC says
My guess is 34 lbs because that’s the best value on shipping. If I needed 10 lbs, I’d probably order 17 because I’d think, for *just* $2 more I get another 7 lbs! ;-D

I say 33 lbs. I’m also thinking the most cost effective if you need 10 lbs. is to go buy it at Walmart or order on walmart.com and pick up in store and not pay shipping.

Except Walmart was over $7 per pound and Fleet & Farm was $2.95/pound. The savings more than made up for the shipping cost.
Nelle Coursey says
I am willing to bet he bought the largest supply they offered!!
Pat Anderson says
I hate to stir the pot (not!) but wasn’t there a big delivery of paper products not so long ago also? I’m guessing 26 lbs!
sandinthewindowsills says
I’m just about certain that he ordered 33 lbs, because it is the most he could get for the reasonable shipping.
Rosalie says
Vince, they have it on Amazon prime – free shipping!!
Judy Laquidara says
It’s way more expensive on Amazon. Even paying shipping, it’s a whole lot less at Fleet & Farm.
dezertsuz says
I’m guessing 33 pounds because at 34 pounds, it shifts from 46/lb to 50/lb. I thought it was odd that the shipping structure goes down and then goes back up again.
