Another trip to town today. More bargain shopping with Mr. Bargain Shopper!
We are talking about buying a little house in MO so that when I visit Chad, I can have a place to stay without having to stay in their home. Two weeks is a long time to be in someone else’s house. If we have a place there, we can bring Rita and Boots. We’ll get rid of the chickens and get a feeder for Cat.
We’re waiting for some answers from our CPA about residence requirements or, rather – non-residency requirements. Our main requirement is that we want to stay residents of Texas and not be considered MO residents for several reasons.
It would be relatively easy for us to furnish another house without having to buy much of anything. Multiple slow cookers. Multiple Instant Pots. Multiple air fryers. The other night we were eating. I looked at my mixer and said “I don’t have two good mixers!” A good while back, I bought a Bosch mixer which works great for bread but not for every day mixing. My ancient Kitchen Aid works great and I love it. I am not bringing a mixer back and forth.
Bargains at Walmart:
We walked into Walmart and big as day . . right in front of us . . CLEARANCE! Mr. Bargain Shopper spotted a mixer from a mile away.
I was saying “No! Let’s get a house first! A mixer is NOT something I can’t live without for a few weeks.” Nope. Had to get it.
Vince was putting it into the cart and I was saying “I’ll get it if you promise me we’re buying a house in MO!” He didn’t say yes nor did he say no but put it in the cart and bought it. In my book, that means we’re buying a house in MO!
Bargains at Aldi:
From there, we went to Aldi. More bargain shopping. There’s almost always a cart full of mark downs near the registers. Today, we found a pair of flip flops in my size . . nice enough that I could wear out . . and they were marked down to $7.99. A tag on the cart that read “1/2 off”. I wanted to know if $7.99 was the price or if they were half of $7.99. We asked and the manager said “Everything in that cart has been reduced to 99¢. That stuff has been sitting there too long!”
Bargains I found: shoes for 99¢, pajamas for 99¢, a triple pack of Glide dental floss for 99¢. I don’t even know what Vince found in there.
Maybe I’m learning to be a bargain shopper too.
You may think the trip was a great success but it was not! My main reasons for going to town were (1) take eggs to a friend and (2) buy more Mung beans.
I totally forgot the eggs in the fridge at home. Neither Walmart, nor Aldi, nor United had Mung beans. Once we got home, I ordered them online. But, I do have a mixer, new pajamas and new flip flops.
